Nadal will be 180 points from Federer if he wins this week. Surely the number 1 ranking is only weeks from changing hands, particularly since Nadal has very few points to defend at Cincinnati whereas Federer is defending champion.

275 according to the newspapers and teletext

Yea i read that it was just a little less than 300 points between them, if Nadal wins Toronto that is. But either way they are a hell of a lot closer than they were at the beginning of the year when the gap was 1,445 points

275 according to the newspapers and teletext

Federer
-350 (2007 finalist), +35 (2008 R32)
Total = -315
Total ranking = 6285

Nadal
-225 (2007 semi-finalist), +500 (2008 winner)
Total = +275
Total ranking = 6105

Difference = 180 ranking points

I think I have worked this out right? Not sure what the papers mean.

Djokovic and Nadal are already in the QF of Toronto. No problems in the early rounds for them. Maybe another great SF between these two players.

wow, Murray won against Nole 6-3 7-6(3)
especially in the second set this was a tough fight. Murray lead with a break twice, but Nole came back both times and had a setpoint at 5-4.
But in the tiebreak he played crap, so congratulations to Andy to this deserved win.

Murray's returning resembles Daniela's in the way that he rarely goes for a straight winner, instead he focuses on returning the ball deep close to the baseline, preferably under the server's feet. It gives him a bigger margin for error while being as effective as a return winner. He just needs to hit one or two additional shots, mostly easy ones, to win the point. It's a smart tactic.

What a crazy tournament in Toronto. Nearly all top seeds are out now. Only Rafa remained. Really great chance now for him to make good points for the ranking.

Although I dind't see a match, it seems to me that also Kiefer is very strong this week.

Convincing victory of Rafa against Andy in the SF. Tough match for Kiefer against Simon.

Expect a win for Rafa in straight sets.

Tough match for Kiefer against Simon.
Tough match to watch. This Simon guy owns one of the most boring, pushing game I have ever seen. I had to quit watching after two sets.
