what i find very interesting is that Rafa had to fight for his number 2 spot a few months ago against Djokovic, and now nobody talks about Nole anymore. Ok, he didn't play a mentionable role in Wimbledon, but on the hardcourts he will try to challenge those two tennis-kings again, like in Melbourne.

i remember that Eurosport had an article on their website last year which said that there will be 3 players on the tennis throne, but i guess we can say at the moment there are definately only two.

Yesterday was one of the greatest days for me. Although it took nearly seven hours to watch, the result was worth watching.

After the first two sets I was quite relaxed and thought Rafa would have won the tournament already. I thought if he loses the third set he would surely win the fourth. But then also a fifth set to watch and I wasn't sure anymore if he could take the title. And moreover another rain suspension in the fifth set. And then finally he made it. It was just great. Such an exciting match I haven't watched for a very long time. Really high level for such a long match.

For me it was a bit surprising that Roger got back after being two sets down. But maybe it was the fact that it was Wimbledon, because when he was down in Paris he often wasn't really fighting anymore. At the end I think Rafa deserved the title a bit more then Roger, altough he fought back very bravely. Looking at the whole match, I think it was Nadal who was the more constant player.

Little edit: No good year at all for Roger. There is only one GS left and he wasn't able to capture one this year so far. (That is of course only a bad year in the world of Roger - he isn't used to it)

The gap between Roger and Rafa is shrinking. But still 545 points. But the gap between Rafa and Nole is now "unbelievably" great again.

Just a thought of mine:

Thanks god there is a Rafael Nadal.

And I don't say this because I'm a Rafa fan. Just imagine there wasn't a player like Nadal for the last 3-4 years. Roger would have won just everything. This year Wimbledon again, the french open 3 times, maybe even 4 times. And also Monte Carlo, Rome or Hamburg, just to name a few.

Wouldn't that be boring?

Theres no doubting that if there wasnt a challenger to Federer at the top of the rankings then yea the ATP tour would be rather boring, but thankfully there is a challenger, maybe even two if Djokovic can find some form over the american hard court swing

Just as Nadal is getting close to Federer he will lose points from not playing in Stuttgart this week. Won the tournament last year so has 250 points to defend. He will gain 25 points to his ranking due to his R16 performance at Rotterdam (one of his non-countable tournaments), but he will still lose 225 points. So overall, in ranking terms, he hasn't gained much from winning Wimbledon.
However the greater confidence he should now have could make his American hard-court season his best ever, which would greatly affect his ranking. He has just 380 points to defend from next week until after the US Open (compared to Federer who has 1850, and Djokovic who has 1205), so Nadal has the potential to take the number 1 ranking by the end of the Summer.

i had heard about him before two years.first time i saw him live, was last year in rolland, first round with nadal.excellent match, was serving for first set but lost mainly from his unexperience
and was nadal the opponent.nadal played his best to beat him.
i think is one to watch in the further future

Del Potro has reached the SF in Kitzbühel - my hometown - this week. Unfortunatelly I'm not able to watch him live, but he has a great form at the moment.
