Wasn't Hingis forced to end her career mainly due to ankle ligament injuries and repeated surgeries?

I figured her to take a week off after the California swing and before the Olympics especially considering Montreal is going in the other direction. I thought she may play New Haven instead (unless she went really deep at Beijing) as she's a regular there and she would probably be more inclined to pick up tournaments as suggested above.
Anyway, Montreal is only a 4 1/2 hour drive from me, and I may make the trip if she gets to the final.

Sure, but your post sounds like you think that injury was the reason why Hingis quit tennis. I personally am not even sure if Hingis ever suffered a foot stress fracture, but if she did it wasn't the reason for her retirement. She retired because of chronic issues with ankles, which I think is something different than Daniela's injury. Plus Hingis had to undergo a few surgeries, Daniela (knocks on the wood) hasn't had to yet, therefore it can't be compared.
Davenport I believe had a foot stress fracture, it took her about three months to fully recover.

There are articles in the slovak press, Daniela possibly couldn't participate at the Olympic Games. And they say something about antidoping. Maybe she has missed the doping controls during her injury?
