Just unbelievably poor from such an experienced player. Left all her best tennis in Birmingham.

Why will she plummet?

Probably because in every major, a number of players that we wouldn't expect will go on runs while Dani's number remains the same, so she'll get passed by any number of people. I know she's popular in San Diego/Carlsbad, so I can hope for a wild-card, but my trip is timed to get there after qualifiers are played, so as of this moment I have no guarantee of seeing her. Hey, I can't be a true Daniela fan if I'm not worrying about something!

Let's Go, Daniela!

There will also be players defending points who won't defend then and who will go down the rankings. Paszek won Eastbourne and got to the quarter-finals here last year and she went out in the first round in both so she'll plummet down the rankings.

Daniela Hantuchova is right about everything.

The scheduling completely screwed her over.

Daniela spent the last 48 hrs getting pumped up for this first rounder and just didn't have it there. She was missing such easy backhands. But the scheduling was so terrible, it's not fair to both players. They should put the two women's matches first and then they have the rest of the day to play the men's matches.

I dunno maybe she wanted it too much...she must be so upset right now.

With wimbledon 1R points:

45 Daniela Hantuchova 23/04/1983 SVK 1230
46 Monica Niculescu 25/09/1987 ROU 1225
47 Madison Keys 17/02/1995 USA 1225
48 Yanina Wickmayer 20/10/1989 BEL 1210
49 Stefanie Voegele 10/03/1990 SUI 1156
50 Ayumi Morita 11/03/1990 JPN 1129
51 Jie Zheng 05/07/1983 CHN 1115
52 Annika Beck 16/02/1994 GER 1109
53 Garbine Muguruza 08/10/1993 ESP 1098
54 Bethanie Mattek-Sands 23/03/1985 USA 1085
55 Lourdes Dominguez-Lino 31/03/1981 ESP 1045
56 Irina-Camelia Begu 26/08/1990 ROU 1015
57 Francesca Schiavone 23/06/1980 ITA 1011
58 Donna Vekic 28/06/1996 CRO 954
59 Heather Watson 19/05/1992 GBR 930
60 Kiki Bertens 10/12/1991 NED 930

Keys plays against Barther in R2 and Beck(who, as we know, will play against Zakopalova in R2) and Muguruza would need to reach QF to pass Daniela, so it means she will rise at least 2 places (if Keys wins).

Daniela's stats:

NO aces
NO backhand winners

I agree, her team didn't even look that excited for her in the first point..

Something weird's gone on...

She needs to get seeded for US Open, simple as..

I'm just so bored of tennis when Daniela's not playing..this is the future when Daniela retires...it's really depressing...

I guess thanks goodness she won Birmingham..

Where do we go from here guys as fans?? :?: :wall: Seriously upset right now..

Sadly, eddy, she looked tight as a drum out there. It wouldn't be out of the realms of possibility for her to have blown her stack at her team during the interminable wait.

You mean she could have had an argument? They just seemed really uninterested...

And that is highly unusual. Most coaches/support staff make a point of trying to pump up their player after every point. Here nada, nichts, nothing. Maybe the ankle issue is a real problem and they knew they were on a hiding to nothing here-kind of like Nadal and his knee.

I'm feeling you, eddy. That's been on my mind since this year started. The big goal then was getting to win #500. Dani did that, and for good measure gave us a title that none of us saw coming. For what it's worth, any title she gets from here forward will be 20 overall. Only because it's Daniela will I not say she has zero chance of getting that elusive slam, but any unprejudiced observer would say that. The question that's been on my mind all year is.....What's Left? Dani might well keep playing for awhile, but what's left? So, if anyone is saying who the f--- cares about that maniac getting to see her play in Carlsbad and why does he keep bringing it up, well, for this maniac, that's what's left. The chance to see Daniela one more time, and the hope against hope that she'll do an autograph session or a Prince Tennis event like she did yesterday and I can actually say hi to her...that's what I cling to. Because, just like you, eddy, once Dani moves on, I will care not a whit about tennis. And, if I get that lucky and get to meet Daniela, she could lose every match she plays after that 6-0 and it wouldn't bother me at all!

Let's Go, Daniela!

Daniela's always been a strong and resilient person and she's bounced back from some absolutely crushing adversity that would have destroyed lesser people. This is a tough loss and it hurts but she has had worse and always come through. Daniela won a tournament just over a week ago so she still has it although I do feel that the physical and mental effort in Birmingham took a lot out of her. As long as she feels that she can be competitive and enjoys tennis she'll keep going. Slovakia are in the Fed Cup World Group next year and I'm sure she'll want to give the Fed Cup another go. Daniela always gets good players wanting to play doubles with her and I'm sure that she can go on a good run with Kirilenko and she should be in the mixed doubles as well.

Daniela Hantuchova is right about everything.

The more I think about this match the more I don't understand what went wrong. She got it back to 4-4 and then lost her service game to love in the first set, and then got it back to 2-2 and lost her serve immediately again. In Birmingham that didn't happen once.

The only thing I can think of is the conditions favoured Klara and Klara exceuted her game plan, which was to get Daniela moving and then go back behind her which worked well today.

Daniela seemed like she was "reacting" rather than taking the initiative, never a good tactic. Klara had way to much time on the ball and Daniela's backhand was plummeting easy balls into the net on dead nothing balls from Klara.

Daniela's return of serve was hot and cold.

This match reminded me very much of Tsurenko loss from Brisbane, just not capable of stringing points together and not able to stay on top for a while.

I'm going to have some time out from the forum until August. Don't think my imput is helping much...and feel a bit like Ever the Optimist did where my support for Daniela is bringing her bad luck or something.

I haven't had a break from the forum in 7 years, and even though I love you guys on here, Daniela losing 1st round at GS's is having a really unhealthy negative impact on me. It's a bit messed up and unhealthy I know but I can't help it.

I almost don't want to go to Wimbledon on Thursday (I have court No.1 tickets) I just really wish Daniela had pulled through today as I just hate seeing Daniela lose at the first hurdle in her favourite tournament.

Actually the match it reminded me of was the Halep match in Rome. Daniela had no penetration on her serve, had no consistency or momentum and the opponent was counterpunching very effectively.

Go to Wimbledon and enjoy yourself, eddy, you might see Daniela in doubles or practising and it'll be good to see the tennis. You were supporting her all the way through Birmingham on here and she won that.
