We'll see how Daniela does. She won't be seeded so she'll have to play in the first round although that's not to bad as she should hopefully get a winnable match although there are quite a lot of good players who won't be seeded. She doesn't have any points to defend so any wins will gain her points. Daniela's due a run here and she should go in fit and refreshed after training in Las Vegas.

Not going to get my hopes up here, not because she's not been playing well, but because of the draw age could get..her results have been awful here since 2010...

Daniela's in America. So it's time for some esoterica (like why is no one on tour named Erica?) :!: In the last 4 matches Daniela has played (excluding walkovers), her opponent has either won (Errani, Kvitova, Pliskova) or reached the final (Suarez Navarro) of the last 2 week's tournaments. Could some of this rub off on her, please?
If I had a dime for every quote I have read of Dani over the last few years where she speaks of the warm and great memories she has of Indian Wells, I could own Dell Computer instead of merely using one of them! I can only hope that this year, she can create some warm, great, new ones! In the last 3 years, none have been created, as we all know. Of course, in each case she drew a bye and played someone who had a win fresh under her belt, and that has been problemistic for her more than it should be, especially in the past 10 months. Therefore, again, please, let Dani draw anyone but a F$@&&%@in' Qualifier!! With even one win, The Climb can begin!

Let's Go, Daniela!

While waiting for the draw, I imagine that you already know that Daniela is nominated for the Fed Cup Heart Award again. Vote for her if you already haven't! And while you're at it, are any of you computer-geek enough to show me how to trick the Fed Cup site so I can cast 50,000 votes for her? ;)

Let's Go, Daniela!

Tweets of the draw are that Daniela opens with a qualifier then she'd play Azarenka.

Call me crazy (like you don't already!), but Daniela has done enough this year to allow me to give her a puncher's chance against Vika (Doha 2011, leaving The Screamer considering giiving up the sport) (if Dani showed up disguised as Serena Williams, Vika would flee in terror!). But she has to get there, and the combination of 3 straight 1st match flameouts and facing another f$#&%in' qualifier leaves me in a state of high anxiety. Of course, none of us need feel positively as long as Daniela does. Time to break some hexes!

Let's Go, Daniela!

Alex this is what scares you..Dani facing a qualifier in 1st rd ;) well if Dani can still maintain her play like from Fed Cup well I'm ok if she just even the 1st rd..please
this is really a worst draw. she beat Vika before but that's the time Dani was playing good and Vike was not top 1 player..
well just hope Dani do some damage..it is time to have some good result Dani..no more 1st rd lose in IW..

Daniela's playing doubles with Medina Garrigues again and they start with fifth seeds Huber & Martinez Sanchez which will be quite tough, but we'll see what happens. Winner plays Black & Rodionova or Mladenovic & Voskoboeva in round 2.

Daniela was having a practice session with Shazza on the Stadium court earlier. I hope it benefits Daniela more than the previous ones at the US & Australian Opens.

We'll see who Daniela plays in the first round. Her recent form has been pretty good and she's beaten good players in Doha & Dubai and been nominated for a Heart award for the Fed Cup but she has to keep her form up here. Azarenka will be a very difficult opponent but Daniela has to focus on winning her first round match first.

OK, guys, let me know all you know about Stephanie Foretz Gacon, the f&#&#$%ing qualifier Daniela will play. From the WTA site I see she is 31 and has never won a WTA singles title in 15 years as a pro. Rank is #114. Daniela has never played her. It looks like most of her career has been ITF. Shes been in 1 regular tourney this year, in Acapulco, where she won a match then got squashed by Suarez Navarro, who Dani recently beat. I decided to look for signature wins. In 2002 at Charleston, she beat Conchita Martinez and Monica Seles back-to-back, and also Jankovic. She beat Sam Stosur in '04, Anastasia Alphabet twice in '07, and that's pretty much it. At Indian Wells she's 2-4 in the main draw. She did beat Peng in a 1st round match there in '06. Judging by this research, while I'm going through the f$^#^%$ing qualifier phobia right now and well know Daniela can get beat by anyone on the wrong day, if she is in the form she's shown at times this year, this is someone that maybe, just maybe, she can whip. They don't play until Thrursday, so that takes away some from the factor of the qualifier coming in on a roll. Cross fingers, everyone.

Let's Go, Daniela!

Daniela stop practising with Sharapova! It only helps Maria! FFS WHEN WILL SHE LEARN

Also I'll never forget that bitchy comment from Sharapova "this is my home" in 2008 QF, and now they practice together on the same court...

Daniela should beat Foretz Gacon easily enough. As Alex said, her best wins have been a few years back and she hasn't done much recently. At the same time, she did come through qualifying and, like any opponent, has to be respected. I've got to like Daniela's chances as long as she's healthy and plays well.

Ever since Shazza came back from her shoulder injury in 2009 and stopped having her dad with her, she's been all right. I just think Daniela's a very magnanimous, charming and understanding person who can get along with anyone.
