I only saw the beginning and end of the match which weren't brilliant but apparently she was great for the most part. Suarez Navarro's serve was pretty dire though.

Will be interesting to see where she get's placed. Would be nice to avoid Kvitova but tbh I'm just glad she's qualified to shut tennisforum up!!

Daniela vs Kvitova Bollocks! Why do they always play on hard courts well Daniela's got to try and play consistently and hope Kvitova has a bad day at the office...sigh..

Oh, I do not have hope for a win here. Hard hitters are Daniela's worst match up, she just cannot deal with them. And Petra hits as hard as they come. It'd take a pretty amazing performance by Daniela to get a chance.
You're probably right, but some really good things are happening for Dani these days, and it's time for her to face someone like Petra and see how far she's progressing and how far she still has to go. Daniela Domination of a top 30 player and her win and near win over Errani are very good signs; tomorrow it goes to the next level, and I'm keenly interested in how this will go. Hey, with all the qualifiers that have beaten her lately, it just might be good for Daniela to be on the other side.

Being in a statisitcal mood recently, I found a bio of Dani on ESPN.com (and she was clothed in the accompanying picture !) which stated that her overall mixed doubles record was 40-5. 40-5!! Now it's 41-6 after Melbourne. Guys, Daniela's approaching even another career milestone! 492+253 doubles wins+41 mixed=786 overall wins. Can 800 be far away?
It's up to 6 wins straight that Dani has converted the 1st match point. If this keeps up, Maalox might have to declare bankruptcy!

Kvitova is a really tough match up for Daniela so this is going to be difficult and the hardest match that Daniela could have got. Why couldn't it have been Zheng instead?

Kvitova has been erratic this year, she lost to Robson at the Australian Open and Mladenovic at Paris Indoors and Cibulkova thrashed her in Sydney so these give Daniela some hope although Kvitova played very well in Doha. We'll see how Daniela does, she's the underdog and doesn't have anything to lose.

Inevitable that 2 of my faves would meet again in the first round. And inevitable that she would get Petra just when she seems to have run into form again.

Sadly I didn't expect anything different. Only time Daniela challenged Petra was in grass by playing great tennis, and she got injured halfway through. So...
