Daniela and Agnieszka can get their title defence under way and Daniela can get a match under her belt and get used to the conditions. A win tomorrow would be great to get her back in the winning habit. It's a good sign that Daniela's playing doubles because she must feel fairly good physically as she didn't play doubles in Indian Wells and she was sick there.

The Radwanska-Bondarenko match seems to be going on forever and judging by the stats it seems like an errorfest. Like eddy said, this match and qualifying has to be tiring for both of them.

Edit: Bondarenko just won after 2hrs 45mins, in spite of serving 20 double faults.

It's going to be Daniela vs Katya

Katya hit 20 double faults in her match against Ula, however, was a long match.

If Daniela serves well she should come through but she will need to be on her game right from the start.

Doubles is turning out a bit harder than anticipated, it's just gone into a super tiebreak.

Daniela & Agnieszka serving first, *=Daniela and Agniezka serving.

0-1*
0-2
1-2
2-2*
3-2*
4-2
5-2
6-2*
7-2*
8-2
8-3
9-3*
10-3*

:wav: Daniela and Agnieszka and win. It would have been great to have won it in straight sets but they won the super tiebreak fairly easily and Daniela had a good workout and got to check out what the courts and conditions are like.

I only followed the match from the 2nd set tiebreak, but that's a concern, especially with the shoulder problems Daniela's been having and how her serve was in Indian Wells. I hope she's okay for tomorrow.

OK, guys, I traveled many mile and spent much moola to see Daniela...and Daniela is[u]exactly[u]what I saw! Court 8 is the smallest one, so in the front row I was so close that I could have tipped the ball away. 1st set was fun. Dani got broken once, but otherwise she and Aga, who was a rock all day long, meshed beautifully, covering for each other and setting each other up like champions. Daniela hit some sweet winners, highlighted by an absolutely sick offensive lob that plopped in a deepest corner of the doubles alley. 2nd set, ummm, pungent as a landfill! All 3 service games broken, painful to watch. Less said the better. Here's the good stuff...the "you had to be there" stuff. Down 2-love in the 10 pt. tiebreak, the chair made a grotesque overrule of a ball that everyone else in the park knew was out, which was the 2nd time he had screwed Dani and Aga with an overrule. Daniela, visibly frustrated long since by her level of play, let loose on the imbecile with some choice comments (no naughty words :o ). The point was replayed, and the ball ended up going to almost the exact same spot. OUT! No overrule. Daniela immediately turned to the chair and shot him a look that nearly had all the undertakers in South Florida scrambling to be here first to bury the guy! Not that she wasn't trying her best before this, but the intensity level ratcheded up notably. And, being Daniela, she then turned it completely around and went 4-4 on her serve the remainder of the tiebreak, including match point. So was she done being all the Daniela I could be fortunate enough to see? Hardly! There was one little gate that the players had to leave from, right near my seat. A number of people crowded in for an autograph. Aga and the other two (I still don't know which one was which) moved on through. Daniela signed for one person, then autographed the 8 x 10 I had brought with me. Then, with quick prodding from my wife, she POSED NEXT TO ME!!!! Stormy snapped the picture, and Daniela was off. Who Does That? :D The day went from good fun to Never-To-Be-Forgotten with that gesture. She clearly was not happy with her play, and she still does something like that! Anyone wonder why she won the Fed Cup Heart Award? Not me!
Healthwise, there were no time-outs, and I did not see her wince or grimace at any time. There was a lot of windmilling of the right arm to loosen the shoulder, and in the 2nd set in particular, there wasn't much oomph in her serve or much anything else. A bit disconcerting, but she had it in the 10 pt. tiebreak when she needed it the most. Plus, it was her 2nd match in 27 days, and she had been ill as we know. I will surmise that she will play notably better tomorrow. That's when I fly home, so today's match is all I will see. Daniela sure didn't disappoint me a bit!

Let's Go, Daniela!

Awesome report Alex. Nothing like being there in person. I have seen Daniela play 3 times in the past few years and wouldn't trade the experience for anything. Money well spent!

Thanks for the report, Alex, it sounds like you had a great time topped by getting to meet Daniela.
Hopefully, this got Daniela's shoulder loosened up a bit and she's able to serve better today.

IF (and it's a big IF) Daniela beats K.Bondarenko this evening she will be play Ivanovic on Sunday...

Here we go guys..i'm bloody nervous...

0-1 K holds to love
1-1 Dani holds to one deuce
2-1 Dani breaks after several deuces - comon, the first set is so important!
2-2 K breaks to 15  Daniela hasn't been herself this month...
2-3 K holds to 30
:dunno: Chungwit how you feeling about this one? Her serve seems to have deserted her since Pattaya...

This must be a complete shitfest...I can't even be bothered with updates..

5-4 serving for the set and get's broken to 15, seriously Daniela sort the serve out, this is infuriating!
6-6 OMG WHY MUST WE GO THROUGH THIS

It also drives me insane that Radwanska (I like her a lot) can just win every early round like 1 and 1, whereas Daniela has to grind out every win, i don't understand it as Radwanska's serve is just as vulnerable as Daniela's particularly the 2nd serve...

1-1 ,Daniela holds but Bondarenko came back from 40-0 to deuce before Daniela won the next 2 points.
2-1, Daniela breaks after Bondarenko serves her 3rd double fault of the game.
@ eddy, a lot depends on how Daniela's serve holds up and how good her shoulder is. Bondarenko's doing well on her 1st serve 7/8 points won so far but only 1/6 on 2nd serve. Daniela's only got 30% 1st serve in so far.
2-2, Bondarenko breaks back to 15.
2-3, Bondarenko holds to 30. Her 1st serve is great so far with 10/13 won but only 2/7 won on 2nd serve plus the double faults.
2-4, Daniela broken to 15, she served a double fault and has only 29% 1st serves in so far and she 4/13 points won on 2nd serve.
3-4, Daniela breaks back to 0, Bondarenko served 2 DFs and didn't get a 1st serve in.
4-4, Daniela holds to 30. She's only getting 33% 1st serves in but she's winning 6/8 when she does, only 5/16 2nd serve.
5-4, Daniela breaks to 30 on Bonderanko's 6th double fault.
5-5, broken to 15. Serve stats: 34% 1st serve, 7/10 1st serve points won, 5/19 2nd serve points won.
6-5, Daniela breaks to 0. Bondarenko now 11/20 on her 1st serve.
6-6, Daniela broken to 0 and loses game on her 4th double fault.
Tiebreak, *= Daniela serving.
1-0
1-1*
1-2*
2-2
3-2
4-2*
4-3*
4-4
4-5
4-6*
4-7*

I think it's going to be very tough for Daniela now, I think that it was crucial she won that 1st set and she served for it twice and was 4-2 up in the tiebreak. Her serve is a liability at the moment, the only consolation is that Bondarenko's serve is pretty bad too.

Daniela Hantuchova is right about everything.

I'm so depressed right now...we were treated to so many Daniela matches in January and February and now she can barely win a set...

Please turn this around Daniela...

OMG same as Indian Wells, drops opening service game of 2nd set..

6-7 0-1 gotta pray that Katerina can't get a serve in...is it windy out there or something? 1-1

Daniela's game has just gotta somehow click...if Daniela just holds a few times it's a different situation...

2-2 JUST EFFING HOLD SERVE

FINALLY 3-2 up now break

6-2 Daniela...please win this...

Broken start of 3rd set, head-banger...HOLD PLEASE 1-1...SHE HOLDS COMON

6-7 6-2 2-1 K-Bon serving 3-1 Daniela, it's not a break until she holds serve..THIS IS APPALLING..Daniela broken 3-2 no shit sherlock..the more desperate i want Daniela to win the worst she plays...4-2 HOLD PLEASE...is it scientificaklly possible for both players to be so incredibly shit on serve????

2nd set

0-1, Daniela broken to 30 although she served her 1st ace.
1-1, Daniela breaks back to 30, 2 more DFs from Bondarenko, I think Daniela should just let Bondarenko serve again.
1-2, broken to 15. Daniela's getting 73% 1st serves in so far this set but only won 3/8 points on 1st serve, 0/3 on second serve.
2-2, Daniela breaks back on her 6th BP, another DF by Bondarenko. Absolutely crucial game to win, I just hope Daniela's serve can pick up.
3-2, Daniela holds to 0.
4-2, Daniela breaks to 30 after Bondarenko serves 2 DFs from 30 all.
5-2, Daniela holds to 15.
6-2, Daniela breaks Bondarenko to 15 for the set. Bondarenko served another double fault on set point.

3rd set
0-1, Daniela broken to 0. It would have been great to keep the momentum with a hold but Daniela's broken in Bondarenko's last 7 service games.
1-1, Daniela breaks back to 30, 2 more DFs by Bondarenko.
2-1, Daniela holds to 30.
3-1, Daniela breaks to 0.
3-2, Daniela broken to 30.
4-2, Daniela breaks back to 30.
4-3, Daniela broken to 15.
5-3, Daniela breaks to 30.
5-4, Daniela broken to 15, served a DF on break point.
5-5, Daniela had a match point at 30-40 but Bondarenko held on.
5-6, Daniela was 30-0 up but lost the next 4 points.
6-6, Daniela breaks back to 0.
Tiebreak
1-0*
2-0
2-1
2-2*
2-3*
2-4
3-4
4-4*
5-4*
6-4
7-4 :wav: :wav: :wav: :wav: :wav: :wav: :wav: :wav: :wav: :wav: :wav: :wav: :wav: :wav: :wav:
