I was looking forward to that match... but I just knew something was gonna happen, but I was thinking Serena maybe lose her match, not like this. Hope she will be ok for AO.

But I'm happy too, that Daniela is in SF. The match against Kim would be a great preparation for AO :)

It's bad luck for Serena, and it happened during the last game of her match.

Still, Daniela gets a walkover (her first in a while, as eddy commented), and can prepare well for her semi-final on Friday against, most likely, the defending Australian Open champion.

Good for Daniela's ranking that Brisbane was upgraded to Premier status.

That's some good news for Daniela. I always thought there was a good chance that Williams would withdraw even if she beat Jovanovski without getting hurt as she has a tendency to withdraw from tournaments midway. Daniela got to the 05 LA and the 06 Zurich finals after getting a bye because of a withdrawal and she got to the 2010 Monterrey final after beating King and Cibulkova, so there are some good omens for Daniela. However, the chances are that she'll have to beat Kim Clijsters in the semi-final which will be a very difficult match.

"I suppose Serena defeat on Wednesday in the quarterfinals Jovanovski and compete against it. There is nothing better I could not even wish to play the beginning of the season against the caliber of this toy. It will be great for my next test. I have absolutely nothing to lose, I will not under any pressure. In every match I'm going to win, and otherwise do not even duel with Serena. It would be a great play in Brisbane for at least two matches," said Hantuchova
@ google translte.

Daniela Hantuchova is right about everything.

Since we were denied the pleasure of seeing Daniela thrash Serena, at least we got a crumb thrown our way. After her match and before the withdrawal, Serena stated: "If my movement's not right it's going to be difficult. Daniela'a a good player." I'll stand corrected on this, but I do believe that in the dozen years that both have been on tour, that's the first complimentary thing Serena has ever said about Dani. :!:

Let's Go, Daniela!

Actually after Serena destroyed Dani is the US Open 4th round 6-2 6-0 during her on court interview she said she had to come out strong and keep on the pressure b/c Daniela is such a talented player. She was very complimentary of Dani after that match. Serena gets a bad rep sometimes, yes she's brash but sometimes she can be pleasant.

Daniela serves quite well so far. Plus some good winners and forced errors from Clijsters:
leading 3-0
