First round is pretty good as Daniela should be able to beat Tanasugarn without too many problems.

The second round opponents are a bit trickier. I think that Suarez Navarro would be a tough opponent in the second round. She got to the quarter-finals in 2008 and is a good player on clay and she got to the final of Marbella this year. Daniela can beat Suarez Navarro, she won the last match in Beijing, but it'll be different on clay. Suarez Navarro retired from Fes with an ankle injury and this is her first tournament since.
Govortsova's clay record isn't great, although she did get to the final in Ponte Vedra Beach. She lost in the first round to Lapushchenkova in Stuttgart who went on a deep run there and Govortsova gave Safarova tough matches in Rome and Madrid and Safarova's been playing well recently.

Wickmayer's the seed for the third round and her form's tailed off a bit since the start of the year although the players that have beaten her have all been good players who've been in form and she beat Schiavone in Stuttgart and Rezai in Rome. Daniela's beaten her in the previous meetings.

Daniela's had time to rest and prepare, so hopefully she goes in fit and healthy and she brings the form she had in Miami, Charleston and the Fed Cup. If she plays like she did there, then she can do well here. It's still one match at a time and Daniela's got to win the first match.

Daniela Hantuchova is right about everything.

Why is everybody saying this is such a good draw? Suarez Navarro in the second round could trip Daniela up; her game is much better suited to the surface than Daniela's. Even if Daniela wins that one(probably in a 3 hour plus marathon), I don't see her beating Wickmayer in the third round. Wicky's clay game isn't great either, but she's a lot more confident than Daniela.
Another thing: The Williams sisters don't always get cakewalk draws, they are just on another level than the rest of the field. There are only 4 real contenders this year: Serena, Venus, Justine and Jelena Jankovic. The remaining 124 are just filler material.

I'm also pretty worried about potential 2nd and 3rd round match ups but i think in light of Daniela's seeding it's really not a terrible draw. If Daniela can produce the form she had on the clay courts of Charleston you'd like to think she's a chance of at least being competitive against Wickmayer (assuming she can take out an unmatch-fit Suarez Navarro). Daniela has beaten her in the past (although it was before Wickmayer notched up her bigger wins) and i wouldn't say that the surface is decisive in either players favour - they both don't play well on it.

4th round seems so far away seen as how, as far as i'm concerned, Daniela has some pretty massive hurdles to overcome before then. I'm more so than ever taking it one match at a time, especially considering Daniela's performances recently.

Just in regard to your contenders comment. I think you've got to rate Stosur some sort of chance of potentially taking out some of the big guns. Her form has been pretty solid over the clay court season and she did reach the semis last year. Stosur can't pluck confidence from no where... to believe she can beat the big players she actually has to have some decent wins under her belt. She's got those, but it remains to be seen if she can deal with the pressure of defending a massive amount of points at a GS.

Come on guys... Daniela play with injured players who try to make their come back. she is in a good form and she will fight, that's for sure. She can go really far with this draw or at least there are some possibilities to do that, unlike other times.

So, taking one match at time and here we go!

Round 1: Tanasugarn. Daniela can choke a set here. I guess it depends on the weather. We don't need cold.

Daniela will be playing on tuesday...kind of annoying...big shocks today with vika losing so easily to dulko and martinez also losing...sucky doubles draw but to meet williams sisters early and on clay it might be possible to squeeze a win. "Daniacki" should get past 1st round ok.

"Daniacki" - good nickname or not?

This is the 2nd year that daniela gets a late 1st round start...in 2007 she hadnt even played her 1st round against kostanic before some players had finished their 2nd round, cos of rain but even so, i dont like the 3 day 1st round start, it's hard to find rhythm...

Daniacki sounds best IMO, but we should think about it after they played more touraments together and became a real team.

such a stupid schedule.. two matches in one day

let's hope there'll be a live stream for court 2 tomorrow.
