Someone tweeting from the draw has said that Daniela is facing Lisicki in round one and then Safina in round two. If so, that's very close to the worst draw possible out of the literally thousands of possibilities, considering she couldn't have drawn a top eight player in round one.

I think i jinxed it by thinking that i hope Daniela gets a good draw this tourney because i could actually pay attention to her results this week (a combination of poo internet and uni stopped me last week). I think her round one match is really bad. Lisciki could have a good serving day in which case she's going to be hard to beat. She reminds me a lot of Petrova, someone Daniela has always had trouble against. I wouldn't totally rule her out of giving Safina a run for her money if she does manage to get through though. But it's just so damned unfortunate! Daniela is playing good tennis and she's getting crummy draws. Argh!

I just hope she can make it to R2 coz last year she made it to R2...

Daniela got a bad break with the draw here with the highest ranked unseeded player in the first round and the number one in the second. It's frustrating because there are some pretty average players in this draw.

At the same time, Lisicki won't be happy about the draw either and this is an opportunity for Daniela to test herself against a direct rival in the rankings and a win here would be a further boost to her confidence and give her momentum facing Safina.

I'm hoping for a repeat of Luxembourg.

She doesn't have any points to defend in here.
However, a R2 here means 40points and her 17th best is 70pts so , she'll not gain any points on ranks and she can only climb if her rivals lose some points.
