It's a pretty good draw. Bartoli could be a tough opponent in the first round but she lost both her matches at Indian Wells and Miami and her clay record isn't that great. She didn't won a match at Amelia Island when the tournament was held there. At the same time, Bartoli has had some good results this year, although not recently. Daniela should be able to beat any of the other qualifiers.

I'd favour Daniela against Mattek-Sands although the second round opponent could be someone else.

Quarter-final is going to be a difficult match as Wozniacki, Razzano and Stosur have all had good results this year.

It's a nice draw, but we have to take this one match at a time.

Edit: Bartoli beat Lauren Albanese 1-6 7-6(5) 6-4 in the first round of qualifying.

Daniela Hantuchova is right about everything.

I think Daniela is going to probably struggle against the majority of the potential qualifiers; its a surprisingly tough qualifying draw.
If she draws Bartoli then I think it will be a comfortable win for the Frenchwoman, and if Karatantcheva qualifies from that section then she too could beat Daniela.
Anastasia Pivovarova (in section 2) could well qualify and will most certainly give Daniela a tough match.
From section 3, Melanie Oudin has a shot at qualifying and as we saw, she took Daniela to three sets.
Ideally, I would like Daniela to draw a qualifier from the bottom section (the weakest players that have got through to the second round are here). If Glatch and Savchuk hadn't lost in the opening round then I would have been more concerned, but at least now there is a chance Daniela could draw a slightly easier first round opponant.
Of course, there is the added issue that the qualifier Daniela is drawn to play will have already played three matches and will be confident and used to playing on the clay, whereas Daniela will be playing on clay for the first time this year in her opening match.
If she gets through her first match I would expect Daniela to play another qualifier in round 2 (Mattek-Sands has just returned from injury and hasn't played alot of tennis this year). With this in mind, Daniela, even if she gets lucky in round 1, could have a tough qualifier in round 2.
At the moment, I'm not looking beyond the second round.

Its a shame Dokic had to withdraw. Since her excellent run at the Australian Open she has struggled to push up the rankings. Hopefully she will be back, and in good form, for the European red clay season, where I think she could get some good results once again.

Daniela plays Anastasija Sevastova (LAT) at first round. At second round
she plays the winner Bethanie Mattek-Sands vs Marion Bartoli.
Sevastova is No 183 at rankings and honestly i dont know about her.
I guess this is a match Daniela should win...

Yes Daniela should be ok against Sevastova from Latvia so long as Daniela has gotten used to the surface already...

I'll take Sevastova for the first round. Sevastova did come through qualifying so she has some matches under her belt and she won an ITF in La Palma in her previous tournament, so she'll have a bit of confidence. She also qualified for Paris but Cornet beat her reasonably easily in the first round. Sevastova did give Alona Bondarenko a tough match on clay in Istanbul a couple of years back, only losing after a third set tiebreak but these are her only matches against top players. She's spent pretty much all her time playing ITF.

Daniela's performance should determine the match and her experience and talent ought to be enough.

Its a joke how Bartoli (the third highest ranked player in the entire tournament) enters the main draw as a qualifier and will now mostly likely play Daniela in round 2 (when the Frenchwoman would have been seeded three if she had entered in advance). I guess this doesn't happen very often because organisers don't expect top-15 players to enter qualifying draws for WTA International events!
Its frustrating mostly because right now I don't see Daniela beating Marion, especially not on clay...
Although at the same time its a good opportunity to play a top-fifteen player and, you never know, possibly get a win that could kick-start her year.
As for the first round, anything but a win would be hugely dissapointing, and would probably involve Daniela playing a terrible match (which I suppose is possible!)

She can take advantage (in case of defronting Bartoli in round 2) of Bartoli's though matches in Q .
She had 2 3-setters if I'm not wrong , and clay is a very "hard" type of surface to play .
For now , she needs to focus on her 1st round match and don't think in ranks , points , etc !

She won only 1 point on second serve and just 10 points on frist serve. She is only winning 50% of the points on serve!

She just held at love to even the second set a 1 a piece. I really don't know what to say about her serve, it seems as if it is non-existant.

Daniela's got a break so hopefully she holds here.

Holds for 3-1. Another break would be nice.

Another break is nice, Daniela's up 4-1.

Ok, Daniela breaks twice and is 4-1 ahead at the second.
It took her a set to wake up.
