Those two points at 0-30 and 15-30 killed me .

You see Daniela's poor volleys, which speak volumes about her confidence.

Its over... well, what can you say. Completely inconsistent. At least she improved during the Open... not enough to be consistent for a whole match

I think she needs a string of good wins, like Indian Wells and such. Or at least one big win.

She showed glimpses in the first set and at the end of the second set of playing at a really high level. But she couldn't sustain it for long. Really, her performance here was not markedly worse than against either of her first two opponents. In fact, considering the opponent and the stats (28 to 37) you can make the case this was her best match of the tournament. But it goes to show she's not at a top fifteen or top twenty level anymore (now the rankings will show that) and she needed to be to win today against a player who played a strong match.

She needs a lot of work if she wants to have a word at the IW !
just a thought , i don't think that Cornet has any chance against Safina , and I really hope that Safina trashes Cornet because , she makes my nerves flop . Even more than Shazza

From 1-1 in the second set, Daniela played like crap, no confidence and way too many EASY UEs. Alize just did what she needed and Daniela gave her the match. Just too disappointed with her performance today. A typical match from Daniela, a good first set, playing aggressive, confident and then suddenly, everything changed. I just wonder what went through her head after that first set.
After her second round match, I hoped she could improve her consistency for this match today but she didn't.
OK, bye bye top 30, welcome to top 40 Daniela. If she continues like this, she won't be seeded at the Slams anymore, which means, we'll have to see more first round exits.

Disagree . Her best match was against Johansson , where she played fairly better and the stats were 38 to 38

right now disappointed. Not so much to say about the match that hasn't already been said.

Once we get this a little bit further away, I think we will be happier. Overall, she played better at the Open than expected, showed glimpses of what she can do, but still needs to work on confidence and consistancy. But overall, I am not as pessimistic about 2009 as I were right after the bagel from Errani

well her projected ranking is 32 right now, only Peng left in the draw that has a chance to push her down to 33. Of course Daniela has some points to defend before the next Slam/mandatory event, but she should be able to gain some as well, so I believe she will be seeded for the French, though only among 25-32 meaning a top 8 player in R32.
