Wozniacki pummeled Daniela 6-1, 6-3. Daniela had a winner/unforced error ratio of 15 to 42, which is terrible. I know that those numbers can sometimes be hazy as the definition of an unforced error is not exactly clear, but that tells a big part of the story. She had gotten to deuce only once in Caro's first seven service games before breaking to stay in the match. Then, Caroline broke back to end it.

Since coming back, she's 2-4. Her two wins are pretty good: straight sets over solid players in Errani and Sugiyama. But she's also had three stinkers in there as well: blowouts against non-top players. Vintage Daniela probably goes 5-1 over those six matches. New Haven is next week where the field is pretty weak considering the points at stake. Maybe with a good draw and improved play, she can earn a semifinal. :)

damn, this might really take her down.. I hope it's not that big shame for her.
After her first victory i ha the feeling she had found back to her form and will at least play a close and good match. Caro has become a heavy threat for some players in the last few months and Daniela has just become one of them :x

Anyway, the win against Sugiyama should give her at least a bit confidence again. I hope. :?

I havent been able to get online for days and when i managed to find the result on teletxt of the sugi match I was delighted, now i come online and find what looks like another demolition.

This is a real dissapointment, for the same reasons why I didnt like the draw, but on wards and upwards, its only a matter of time till Daniela returns to her best

I've just seen an interview with Caro. The audience seemed to be mainly Danish and was said to remind more of the audience of a soccer match than a tennis match.
Caro also said it was a tough match and that she has to rest for the rest of the day.

This is a big disappointment, especially considering how important the Olympics are to Daniela. Wozniacki was in good form having won in Stockholm and she'd been steadily going up the rankings this year, so this was always going to be a tough match and it was.
A decisive factor was second serve as Daniela won only 2 points out of 18 on second serve while Wozniacki won 8 out of 16. Without seeing the match, it's difficult to talk about exactly what happened but Wozniacki probably exploited the weaknesses in Daniela's second serve that Martin's talked about. Second serve is something that Daniela will need to work on and improve.

On the positives for the tournament, Daniela did get revenge against Ai and played very well on Sunday, so she is showing glimpses of her best. However, it will take a while for Daniela to consistently produce her best and get back into a match rhythm after being out for so long, so we have to be patient. It's going to be important that Daniela puts in good runs in New Haven and the US Open as these tournaments will be her last opportunity to gain points as she has a lot to defend after the US Open.

"It's very good. I mean I feel like I played a good game and I'm so happy that I won over Hantuchova. It's a great win for me. I mean she is a very good player. It's amazing," said the 18-year-old Wozniacki, now ranked 22nd in the world and claiming her first career title in Stockholm a week ago.

Her reward might be a meeting with Elena Dementieva in the next round.

"I mean every round is very strong and every player is very good. We play here to represent our countries, that's great. So I have to play my best to win every match, but right now I just want to celebrate that I won today. I will think about my next match tomorrow."

Daniela Hantuchova is right about everything.

That is exactly the result that I expected a week ago. But after the 1st round I was really hoping that Daniela was able to found her form. So all in all no real surprise the 2nd round loss, but nevertheless very disappointing, especially for Daniela.

Hantuchova/Husarova lost the first set 6-1 to Yan/Zheng but are now 6-5 up in the second. Hopefully they can take it to a deciding set.

End result: Yan and Zheng win 6-1 7-6[9]
Not a bad performance considering how good a team the Chinese pair are.

Daniela's Olympic dream is over 16 67(9). They fought bravely but the Chinese home crowd i'm sure didn't help them...
