I saw earlier today that our buddy Huber and her partner got bageled in the 1st set and ended up winning 11-9 in the 3rd. How's about a little history repeating itself?
How about that? Reverse the bagel! Geaux, Dani!
WOW! There's nothing real in the world anymore! First my moribund Mets sweep the despicable Yankees 4 straight, and now this? Amazing comeback. Way to be, Daniela! From your summary, Chungwit, it sounded like Dani and Rojer played about as well as you could and lose 6-love. All the stats ended up favoring them, and as always, there was no giving in by our gal. Now I feel better!

And, that's win #799 combined ! :wav:

Let's Go, Daniela!

Nice to finally get a win in this dull French open. (anyone else think so too?).

Would be great if they can go on a run here. Any sort of win is going to help.

A good win by Daniela & Rojer to fight back from being bageled in the first set to win the second set to 0 and then come through the tiebreak leading all the way. They were unlucky to lose the first set to 0 but fought back and got the win. I like the symmetry of the scoreline, mainly because Daniela won. I honestly couldn't have faced Daniela losing in the first round of everything here and that's not the case and she's ended a losing streak. With Daniela & Rojer beating the no. 2 seeds the draw will open up so there's the chance of a good run here which would be fantastic.

Just out of curiousity, how the frig are seeds determined in mixed? Probably there's a formula or point system I'm not aware of. But still, what do they go on? It's basically a 4 times a year event, and it seems to me that rarely do partners remain together for long, as Daniela's history proves. I know her Slam was years ago, but with that on your resume, ain't that worth a seed? :|

Let's Go, Daniela!

Of course I was there... - I cannot really understand how the situation has changed so quickly. Nothing was specially wrong in the first set, but they were unlucky in their service games, as Chungwit said. At 1-0 in the second set, Rojer asked for the support of the people, and they received it till the end of the match. In the secund set, Vesnina made some errors, while Daniela remained precise and solid. Overall a good double match for her.

I have posted my photos.

I let the specialists answer to Alex's question...

2013 OFFICIAL GRAND SLAM RULE BOOK

Selection of Entries
Entries shall be accepted in the following order:
i. Those players who, when teamed together, qualify consistent with the better of their individual singles or doubles ranking dated approximately seven (7) days prior to the commencement of the Grand Slam Tournament. The rankings of the two players of a team shall be added together and these totals will determine who qualifies.
Ties shall be resolved as follows:
1. Team using two (2) singles rankings
2. Team using one (1) singles ranking
3. A team using an Entry Protection/Special Ranking is
positioned below the other team(s). If one player on each team is using an Entry Protection/Special Ranking then the ranking of each remaining player determines the order.

For ties between teams with the same composition, priority will be given to the team with the highest individual singles ranking. For teams using two doubles rankings priority will be given in the men’s event to the team with the fewest number of tournaments played and then the team with the highest number of points. In the women’s event to the team with the greatest combined total points, thereafter the team with the highest combined ranking from the previous week and then to the team with the fewest combined number of tournaments played over the previous 52-week period.

ii. Teams composed of a player with a ranking and a player without a ranking. The priority among these teams shall be determined by the ranking of the one ranked player.

iii. If the doubles draw cannot be completed filed by teams with at least one member of whom has a ranking, the tournament has the option of filling out the draw with unranked teams or filling the remaining spaces with byes.

d. Seeds i. The draw shall be seeded and the number of seeds shall be sixteen (16).

ii. Each Grand Slam Tournament shall be the final authority for the selection and resolution of ties with respect to seeds. Such selection and resolution shall be consistent with the computer ranking list dated approximately seven (7) days prior to the event.
iii. If, prior to the draw being finalised, it is determined that one- fourth (1⁄4) or more of the seeded pairs are unable to play, the entire draw may be remade. Any vacancy created by the withdrawal of a seeded team prior to the release of the Order of Play for the first day of Main Draw shall be filled as follows:
- If the withdrawal is among seeds 1 to 4, the 5th seed is moved into then open position, and the 5th position shall be filled by the next highest ranked team eligible to be seeded.
- If the withdrawal is among seeds 5 to 16 it shall be filled by the next highest ranked team eligible to be seeded.
The position vacated by that next highest ranked team shall then be filled by the next team on the original entry list if prior to the commencement of the Qualifying competition or by the eligible Lucky Loser if after the commencement of the Qualifying competition. Any vacancy created by the withdrawal of a seed which occurs after the release of the Order of Play for the first day of the Main Draw shall be filled by eligible Alternates/Lucky Losers.
iv. Even if the draw is remade, the original entry pairings may not be changed except as provided with respect to vacancies.
e. Method of Draw The placing of seeds and byes and the drawing of the remaining teams shall be in accordance with the same principles used in the singles Main Draw.

I'd hate to see the people who wrote those rules end up on a committee to simplify the Internal Revenue Service Tax Code!

Jankovic came from a set down to beat Stosur today and plays Hampton next. It's amazing the number of times that Daniela gets drawn against a player who has a great tournament.

Oh wow, that is pretty lame, and I was hoping for a decent run here. Such a disappointing season so far. Poor Daniela.

I don't expect grass to be any better, clay is when the rest of the tour is most vulnerable. But we'll see.
