Daniela made some absolutely amazing winners, especially those two crosscourt lasso forehands, and she played and won some incredible points. She played some great rallies, made some great shots and showed so much determination and fighting spirit to keep going in the match.

Daniela Hantuchova is right about everything.

 It's an hour later and that defeat still hurts like shards of broken glass in the stomach. Lord knows how Daniela must be feeling. :|

BTW noticed it was Darren and Carlos in her box today. Has Eduardo been given the heave-ho already? :P

I haven't seen Daniela playing that good since .... maybe AO 2008. That is absolutely a high standard match. What a pity that a few UEs at her last service game cost her that match. Daniela should somehow improve this aspect. She tends to loose when having to serve under pressure. Anyway, a very good match Daniela. Hopefully this is not a one-in-a-while performance. We look forward to see more of it.

daniela :( So close, I couldnt watch the match. Hope she can really recover from this.

The only bad thing, apart from the loss, is that hardcourts are over until the summer... Hope she can achieve something on the red dirt :)

Cahill is really good for her!

Congrats danka on such a superb effort!

I don't share your feelings Benji. Thought she had a great day but would have rather had the win!

She could have beat a lot of players today.

Im a very proud Daniela Hantuchova fan tonight after that performance. Obviously I would have been even happier with the win but sometimes things are never meant to be. Daniela can come away from that match with her head held high and I hope she can produce performances like that more consistently because if she can find that sort of form on a more regular basis she will easily find her self back in the top 20 in the world and I see no reason why she can't push for the top 10 once again. It's a long shot but today she proved she can still hang with the best.

Oh man. I couldn't watch the match because i had uni all day - did anyone record it?! I'm not sure whether or not i'm pleased with the result. I'm so happy she evidently played well against Venus, but it seems like she came so close to notching up a huge victory! Shame.

This tournament has been a really big eye opener. Daniela has never played well in Miami, yet her results this year are easily the most encouraging we've seen in recent times. You'd like to think this means bigger and better things for the remainder of Daniela's season. She's got some room to make up some points before the french, not to mention what a decent run at the french open would do for her ranking. It's interesting to think what Daniela might have produced at IW minus a back injury considering the current mood she's in. But oh well, spilt milk. Bring on the rest of the season!

Just caught the last set on Eurosport. I'm so pleased with Daniela's play. She must be bitterly disappointed. But i'm sure once she has time to reflect she'll be proud of her play. The same problems which have plagued her career were ultimately her undoing... But as always, Daniela is committed to improving. This is why she's such an inspiration to me. She was so close to beating Venus today. She played one poor service game in the final set and was passive for one point in her final service game which ultimately saw her downfall.

I think Cahill is a really good influence on Daniela. His words always seem to be spot on and from memory Daniela has played well when he's been in her box.

Hard luck, Dani. <3

After all, I think it was a great chance missed. Well done by Daniela but I have the feeling that she could run into the Final in Miami. Only hope she will continue playing like this.

It's such bad seeing Wickmayer playing Bacsinzsky in R4 and play Bartoli in QF.
Tennis never gifted anything to Daniela and it is so UNFAIR. I am really angry for that. 10 years now, we only had seen the hardest possible draws for Daniela. I think she is the most unlucky player of Tour.

What's excited me most about this match is the fact Daniela showed RESILLIENCE. She never stopped fighting and in the 2nd set she clawed it back. Venus was never allowed to steamroll and that is a remarked improvement.

"The match I had in my hands and decided I had to, I won today. The conditions were most easily, since blowing a lot harder to beat looking, but I was the one who dictated the pace. Súperke later he helped her visionary service but my chances of living until the end of a game could be for me winning," commented even several hours after the game disappointed voice Daniela Hantuchova.

"I tried it rozbehávať, but she is wonderfully varied. In exchange, where I pushed it, and 99% of cases would be against another player beats winning, I'm against it needed three more - four more strokes to finish. I was However, patient and waiting for the right moment ends. For a long time I managed to do and finally decided in favor of Venus a few balls. Now it's pointless to say what I had, which was not in the end do nothing to" sniff Hantuchova, but also encouraging. She added: "This my performance is certainly a good promise in other games. Had the draw a little better, I could go much further in this tournament. Even the quarterfinals acceptable feature of the player."

"I am glad that I did after so many years finally pushed further. The tennis and casinos in Miami was very good. And every day I felt back pain, injured still in the tournament in Indian Wells. Especially after the first game I'm quite track this . It was not always pleasant to think about. Now I have before me a few days off, it's the fastest doliečiť," meaning to Hantuchova.

Runner-up of recent events in Monterrey, Mexico generally expressed satisfaction with his game over the last month and outlined the agenda for the near future, "followed by a short rest and hard training season on clay. I start the tournament on the green clay at Charleston, and then already looking forward to Europe. However I am here in America already terribly long. While in Miami, it was such a crazy fan, and rightly, I enjoyed it. "

"This game I had in my hands and it had clearly won, great chance to beat the first time in his career Venus but I missed what I closets. The conditions today were not easy to centri blowing terribly hard and is looking for the right rhythm. Yet I managed to survive in a long time my arms and ran to my game directed. The situation in the second game 2-0 but Venus she played unbelievable gem when she played great winner of the impossible position, including the famous obhodenia, brejk me back and grabbed the. Unbelievably well to move and I was able to return the punches that would be against the 99 percent range for hráčok meant winning point for me. started very well administered and triafala's high speed, which is in her classic, but still I had a chance to win because the longer exchanges, I dictated the pace and I was able to push it. Bread, the state broke the 5:5 in the second game when I lost the submission and then a 4:4 in critical condition dejstva. It was very close, decided a two-ball. lacked a little luck, advantage when it has not helped me tape. Coach stressed to me that I played aggressively, what súperku true, I can be a bit trpezlivejšia," said Hantuchova.

"In Miami I was due process in eight achieved the best result for 10 years, so surely I must be satisfied. Leash tournaments on hard surface, I went over expectations. In Monterrey, Mexico I prebojovala until the finals in Indian Wells I had back injury and the fault has ended in round 2, but in Florida, I received the best šestnástku, although difficult súperky or maybe I could have. lancet Patty Schnyder and Nadia Petrova, and you appreciate very much missing that I have received further. If I went Venus through, I should in future rounds quite acceptable lot. I was well able to loosen up and I can think of to win the whole tournament, but now it is already useless to speculate about. It is to learn and toil on," said Hantuchova, which will be full next week to train, then kicks off in Charleston clay court season.

Q. You last played her in 2007, and although you have a 9 0 record against her, it's been a while. Was there something different about her game today, or was it the conditions?
VENUS WILLIAMS: Yeah, she played really well. I haven't seen her play so well in a long time, so I think she was really executing her game. Conversely, I was a little bit off and struggling to find the court and everything else.
You know, days like this you just have to figure out a way to win the point, even if it's not pretty. So I enjoy that battle.
Of course, I'd like to win more straightforward, but when it counts and times get tough, I always feel confident that I'm gonna find a way to win the point.

Q. Were you surprised that she could match your groundstrokes?
VENUS WILLIAMS: She was playing well. She was playing really well and giving it 100% effort. When I hit it hard she got it back; when I hit it high she got it back.
So just a real testimony to how well she was playing today.

That loss hurts a lot. Especially as the draw has opend up.

But nevertheless, I think that was the best match I have seen from Daniela for at least 2 years. Especially the mental strength she showed during the whole match. Daniela came back a break down in the second set and also in the third.
Like the guy from Eurosport said. Two years ago Daniela would have lost 6:1 2:6 1:6

If Daniela is able to continue playing like that and playing so smart, I think a comeback in the top 10 is absolutely possible.
