Kuznetsova saw how well Safina played when she was match point down in the previous rounds, so to neutralize it Kuznetsova made sure she didn't get any match points against Safina. Unfortunately for her, she overlooked the flaw in that strategy.

Just like last year, the final's the number 1 v the Berlin winner.

Main event tomorrow is Djokovic v Nadal for the number 2 ranking. Nadal's trying to be the first man since Bjorn Borg to win four straight Roland Garros titles, Djokovic's trying for the calendar slam, Federer for the career slam and Monfils to be the first Frenchman to win a slam since Noah won here in 1983.

Federer's been in 16 consecutive slam semis, Djokovic's in his 5th consecutive slam semi, Nadal's been in 4 of the last 5 and a Frenchman's been in 3 of the last 4.

Daniela Hantuchova is right about everything.

:haha:

thanks for the facts, chungwit.
This makes tommorowws matches even more interesting!
Until now, this year's French Open have been really kinda boring to me, but now it seems to become incredible thrilling! :)

clear win for nadal.dissatisfactory djokovic's perfomance
managed only to save the stalking-horse in third.
federer many ups and downs in his game
playing with nadal you must be up throughout the entire match
otherwise you have lost the match from the locker room.
the man makes defences from nowhere and is immediately in position
to win the points, his movement and patience on clay is just
incredible.credit to nadal
last month i lost my interest to follow wta matches on tv
i quess is bc from danka.

No chance for Dojokovic against Rafa :P

Also Roger won't have a chance to win the title, if Rafa plays also in the final like in SF.

Well I got my prediction right in terms of the Federer match, I did say he'd lose the first set but I said he'd win in 4. Monfils played briliantly and I dont think Ive seen Federer for a long time having to scrap as much as he did against the young frenchman, as for the final, Federer doesnt have a hope in hell! Nadal will have to lose an arm or a leg before he relinquishes this title to Federer. The least I can hope for is for a competitive match

Congratulations to Ana Ivanovic for claiming a grand slam title at the 3rd time of asking and being the new world number 1. Apparently the only 17th player to be world number one (according to the bbc) dont know if thats since the open era or since computer rankings were introduced. As for the comment that Safina made at the end of the match about Ivanovic's team well that was a bit of a low blow, probably would of been best to keep her opinion quiet on that occasion but Im sure it will not spoil the Serb's party. It should be an interesting Wimbledon coming up in a month thats for sure.

i really don't think that safina meant it in an offensive way, or even as a little dig - i think she was just commenting how ana's team were really intense during the match doing fist pumps etc, i think it just came out a bit wrong. Sam Smith our commetator said that safina's mum walked out after the 1st set!

anyway, congratulations Ana! You certainly deserved it. I just feel that if Daniela was fit and not injured we could have seen at least a quarter final appearance here from daniela. It was quite a weak tournament in the latter stages due to the williams sisters going out, henin retired etc.

:D :D :D :D :D :D

no time for commenting sorry, I just wanted to say that I'm very very happy. The victory gives Ana a lot more points, consolidating her n.1 position

Justine Henin was in Paris too

She thanked everyone and said that she thanked Ana and then thanked her team, as she said that she turned round and said that they were "a little bit annoying"

I think it came out wrong. Safina has been in the public light more than ever before this past fortnight and she seems like a nice player.
A good match from Ivanovic, who could potentially take over Henin's role as Queen of Paris, especially since there are few clay court specialists in the women's game. Ivanovic plays well on this surface and as long as the Williams' sisters are not on top form during this period in the future, then she could win the title many more times.
A real threat for the Wimbledon title this year aswell.

that's nothing bad , i mean , they were irritating sometimes, also ana's yelling was loud and annoying aswell

i guess there will be a lot of talk around her comment for nothing then

I'm happy that Ana won. And moreover that she is the new n° 1. Ana played really well during the whole season. She deserves it.

Federer is getting stuffed! He hasnt got an answer to anything atm and to be honest I dont think I have seen Federer play this bad for a very long time 2 sets and 0-5 down, the nightmare will be over soon
