This sucks...

The serve was decisive in this match. It seemed that in the first set Daniela was probably taking a bit of pavce of her first serve to make sure that she got it in and protect her second serve, but all that seemed to do was set up Safina for a big return and although Daniela got 78% of first serves in she won only 6/18 but she was 3/5 on second serve. It looked like she started putting more power into her second serve and she wasn't as accurate at 58% in but she won 13/19 of her first serve points. But this exposed the second serve and she was only 5/14 on second serve in the second set. Safina's first serve was strong throughout the match with 75% winning 71% of them, so she was generally comfortable on serve. Safina would have put in a lot of powerful serves and dictated the point from then on. Daniela was successful against her second serve as Saina was only 6/16 on her second serve in the match and that got Daniela bps. Daniela was 2/7 on bps, while Safina was 5/7. Safina always seemed to get in a first serve when Daniela had a bp.

Daniela's leg was still strapped so I wonder how much fitness was a factor in this match.

In her last four tournaments, Daniela's lost to the no1, the no2, the no4 and now the no1 again.
