IMO it's good she plays this exhibition in singapore. she needs the match practice! it's only a few weeks before the new season will start!

Can we take Singapore, Brisbane and now this Czech League thing as signs that Daniela has made at least some progress in the healing of her foot and shoulder? Certainly hope so. :P
This Sydney situation has ticked me off. I don't pretend to know the rules on this. All I know is that, considering all Dani has done and continues to do to promote the WTA, and for all the fannies she has drawn into seats all over the world, including Sydney, if they don't flip her a wild card, or if she doesn't get in due to other withdrawals, and is forced to qualify, that's asinine and a total disgrace. I suggested on her FB page that should it come to that, she should tell them to stick it where the sun don't shine :!: But Dani's too classy for that, and she'd probably just dutifully comply. One solution: she can make it to the Brisbane final, which I imagine would be on the same day as Sydney's qualifying play. Then her agent can contact the Sydney people and say, gee, sorry, my client is otherwise occupied! Let's Go, Daniela!

Alex, a good idea would be to swallow some pride and play Hobart instead-there would be a good chance of a title there. :)

I don't get how she can play the Czech league and the Singapore exhibiton without letting someone down? :dunno:

Benji: Daniela is always challenging herself. Maybe she should heed your advice and follow the Wozniacki/Roberta Vinci method to add titles to their career total!

a little bit off topic: i'm afraid that this could be danielas last season on the wta tour.. :? what do you think?
i thought about this because this year are the olympic games and something special...don't know..

I was thinking that too Patty,but in an interview on her website,Daniela sounded really pumped up about coming back to Australia and starting her training even earlier,so I don't think the motivation is lacking at the moment! :)

Hantuchova back to defend Pattaya Open title

Daniela Hantuchova of Slovakia will return to defend her title at the PTT Pattaya Open next month.

The top seed in the tournament at the Dusit Thani is world No.7 Vera Zvonareva of Russia who will be making her fourth successive appearance in Pattaya.

She could again meet Hantuchova who beat the Russian in last year's semi-finals and went on to defeat Italy's Sara Errani in the final.

Dominika Cibulkova, also from Slovakia, who ended 2011 with a win in Moscow and climbed to No.18 in the world ranking, will make her Pattaya debut.

Russian Maria Kirilenko will be returning to Pattaya while Tamarine Tanasugarn, a finalist in 1996 and 2010, will lead the local challenge.

The qualifying round is scheduled for Feb 5-6 and the main draw will take place from Feb 7-12.
