1 (1) HENIN, JUSTINE BEL 6105.00 15
2 (2) IVANOVIC, ANA SRB 4157.00 17
3 (3) SHARAPOVA, MARIA RUS 3986.00 15
4 (4) KUZNETSOVA, SVETLANA RUS 3905.00 18
5 (5) JANKOVIC, JELENA SRB 3775.00 26
6 (6) WILLIAMS, SERENA USA 2726.00 12
7 (7) CHAKVETADZE, ANNA RUS 2665.00 25
8 (8) WILLIAMS, VENUS USA 2586.00 14
9 (9) DEMENTIEVA, ELENA RUS 2440.00 22
10 (10) HANTUCHOVA, DANIELA SVK 2257.00 25

Behind Daniela:
Marion Bartoli 11th (will pass Daniela during the clay season, then will disappear from the top 23783 after Wimbledon)

Schnyder 12th, Zvonareva 13th
Patty Schnyder is the last player who doesn't have a huge gap (1965.00 pts) and can do well especially on clay....

Szavay 14th, Radwanska 15th, Vaidisova 16th
The new generation. Nobody knows what to expect from them... I don't think they can be a threat to the top 10, at the moment. imho, Svazay will be (in the future)

So good recovery to Dani, hope to see her at RG, and then get ready for the grass court season!!

Bartoli will fall behind Daniela during the grass court season probably. If you take away all their points from last year's clay and grass - excl. Wimbledon, Daniela has more points.
Yes Schnyder is good on clay, but she was good on clay last year too, so she has a lot of points to defend. I don't think she is a threat. I would say look out for Zvonareva who has nothing to defend until US Open.

And she's played well this year... in addition to this, she's one of the worst players Daniela can play with, the previous matches were terrible.. Yes even if Schnyder does well, she will probably hold her points and spot in the rankings, but nothing more (ask Rafa for details)

Useful table Christina!
Bartoli's row is interesting! 1,175 points to defend between now and the end of Wimbledon!
If she were to lose the majority of those points she would be barely inside the top 30.
Hopefully Daniela can be really fit for Roland Garros and build up some points there seen as she only has a 3R to defend.

As it looks right now, I think Zvonoreva is the biggest threat. she has a lot of talant and has been injured too often for people to really notice her.

in this table I have subtracted all points from the clay season 2007 (except French Open, Istanbul and Strassbourg, since these three tournaments will count towards the seeding of this year's French Open)
So basically what this table shows is how the seeding will be at French Open were the seeding to be made today

Daniela is more or less garanteed to be seeded 11. This means that in R32 (3rd round), she will face the 17-24 seeds (my table doesn't include seeds this low, so I don't know who they are), in R16 (4th round) she will face the 5-8 seeds which at this time are: Kuznetsova, Serena, Chakvetadze and Venus.

I would say that she will be seeded 11 or 12 at least. I don't see both Schnyder and Zvonareva passing her

Good work, Christina, as always. It's worth noting that there's no guarantee of Venus playing which would not affect the overall picture much (she'd still face 5-8 in R16, etc.) but does weaken the field.

zvonareva has 16 tournes that count on her rank.three of them are slams(ao 08,wimbledon,fo 07,usopen 07 doesnt count as was injured already).so remains one tournament to add in her 17th best, despite how many points will gain.
this week is playing prague.matters what happens her result will count in her 17th best and closes the amount of 17th tournes.
also 17th and 18th best are important details.for example(this week came off warsaw points and none can defend them as warsaw this year isnt in calendar),henin as defender lost whole 275 points(bc is playing lesser than 17 tournes) and jankovic(over 17 tournes) as semifinalist(125p) dropped only 20 bc her 18th is 105.in same status as henin are sisters, sharapova, vaidisova.
ivanovic is inside-out about her 18th.jankovic and kuznetsova are special case as are playing over 17 and have in all of them big points
danka and all others are in same status.considering the healthy-good player zvonareva with no points to defend and the reasons i mentioned above is the biggest thread for top-10 for the former top-10 player.
mathematically danka will be out of top-10 with the upcoming rome's points off.
will drop 135 points leaving her behind bartoli at 76 points temporary(wimbledon is close) (dont know btw what means the expression of mr Green)
and ahead of schnyder with a respectable gap(as she has enough points to defend).
as for the players above danka,i think dementieva will defend them and will add points
venus is a mystery, according some news is in doubt for french??
chakvetadze is too much inconsistent this year with the abnormal exception of paris.
serena is playing very serious this year.is very interesting the battle for No 1 as the gap between henin and other 4 top-5 reduced drammaticaly.considering that henin and ivanovic have
huge points to defend and the less and in hot form mrs sharapova is possible after wimbledon to
be the new No 1
we shall see, most important is danka to come back full healthy all others are
secondary parameters
faith and patience

I think that the players who can benefit the most from the clay season are Ivanovic, Henin.

well they are definitely great clay courters. But I would say that Kuznetsova is good too, and Jankovic too. Daniela, Sharapova, Venus, Dementieva and Chakvetadze are all just waiting for the grass season to come
