Its a shame that its through Bartoli's play rather than Daniela's but im just glad that she's staying around the top ten and not plummeting down the rankings. Not too many points to defend for the rest of the summer so should stay around the 10-15 ranking slot untill after the US Open without needing to play much or get good results which is good news.

I can't see Chakvetadze defending her title this week at the Ordina. Also Chak has Cincinatti and Stanford titles to defend so she has a tough time to stay in top 10. (good for Daniela but really we'd rather just see Daniela play some tennis!)

It is a shame that Danielas return to the top 10 was through Bartoli's poor form that Daniela's play, but it must be a confidence boost to Daniela to know that after all this time off, she is still a top 10 players, and it puts into perspective how well she s played in the close of last season and the beginning of this that she is still there. I said many months ago that Daniela, I felt could only reach 6th in the world based on the players above her and the points difference, then Henin was nice enough to retire. So I agree, that when Daniela is 100% and playing at her best, she has a chance to make up those 700 points to where Dementieva currently sits

i don't really care what her ranking will be the next two months, i think it's unrealistic to hope for a 5th or 6th place atm , it will take weeks before Daniela finds her best form again, that won't happen after just two weeks training , she needs match rythem aswell.

i only hope the injury is over soon , she can play again and win matches, what this will do with the ranking we will see then, she probably will pass some players cause they lose points (like chakvetadze)

Yes, because even if the players if front of her are losing points, she will probably lose a lot of points until she recovers 100% and restarts playing tournaments at her standard level

First things first, we need this heel to get better. Im really glad that Daniela has managed to cope with it and not come back too early. She must be hurting inside as well as the heel

When she gets back its gonna be an evoloution for her. As most of you are feeling, im missing her like crazy. Maybie even so much that its having an effect of my life. lol i laugh at myself because when she gets back to playing, she is gonna be so eager to play the she will kick some serious butt.

At least Daniela stays in touch with the top10. And after Wimbledon Bartoli won't be in front of Daniela anymore.

Daniela is going to need a really good American hard-court season if she wants to get back into the top ten. Radwanska, with a good Wimbledon performance, could go way ahead of her, and Zvonareva and Schnyder could over-take her too. Schnyder has got the easiest section of the WImbledon draw in my oppinion - Chakvetadze [8], Schnyder [12], Vaidisova [18] and Razzano [27] make up the quarter - shame Daniela never gets a section like this. The unseeded players in that section are not too threatening either.
Hopefully Daniela can just get back to playing her best tennis in the near future.

Daniela also had Cornet and Kirilenko at Aus, and Kirilenko was on-form and is always a threat to Daniela.
