I don't think there's going to be any news until after Roland Garros. I'm guessing all Daniela is doing now is getting treatment and resting and she'll probably consult with her medical team about whether she can play Rosmalen or Wimbledon in the days after Roland Garros and we'll hear something then.

So is Birmingham definitely out of the question then?

i hope so , she can only gain points for her ranking when she reaches the semi's or final to score better then her 17th best score. So it wouldn't really matter , it's better she takes a extra week of rest combined with training then.

Exclusive interview of Daniela Hantuchova for her official website

Daniela, how do you feel physically and mentally after one month without playing tournaments ?

On the fitness front, I have been doing a lot of pool and low impact work but it’s hard not be able to run. Treadmill training is best for endurance and speed and it’s like a mental outlet for me. Of course I’m trying to stay positive but I greatly miss the game. I haven’t really picked up a racquet since early April so it’s been frustrating to say the least. At this point, yoga is a big factor in keeping me sane :-) !

What did you do during Roland-Garros tournament ?

One very nice thing was that I was able to celebrate my big brother’s 30th birthday at home with him, our family and closest friends. Other than being in and out of medical facilities for tests, check-ups, treatments, etc… I am reading and spending lots of time at home while I have a break now. I also spent some time in Barcelona with my coach.

When and where will you do your come back ?

I have my hopes set on playing Rosmalen, always a nice warm up for Wimbledon. Helps to get a few matches in before a Grand Slam. I can’t wait to be back doing what I love most, tennis !

That she hasn't practised or played since the injury put her out.

It's good that Daniela's thinking about returning and it's a realistic target for a comeback. Of course, that depends on her being medically cleared to play again and I feel she'll take the medical advice, but Daniela's optimism about a return seems to be tempered by realism about it being possible, but she's still recovering and has a bit to go before she can play. Even if she does play Rosmalen and Wimbledon, I'm not expecting too much considering that Daniela will be short of match fitness and practice. All I'm really hoping for there is that she comes through her matches without getting hurt and that she's healthy, anything else will be a bonus.

It is a bit frustrating that there hasnt been anymore news on Daniela's fitness since withdrawing from Roland Garros, but I suppose no news is good news, better than hearing more news on her still being injured.

Selfishly I want her to return as soon as possible, but in my heart of hearts I want Daniela to return when her doctor tells her so. My hope is that she will be fit to atleast make Wimbledon. She will have nothing to lose (apart from points) and as long as she gets through unscathed then ill be happy and will look forward to the Olympics and the hard court swing

I think Rosmalen is more Daniela's wish than a realistic assumption. Does she say she still isn't able to run? We don't know how old is this interview, but probably not more than a few days, I don't see her playing at Rosmalen/Wimbledon if she isn't able to run. But maybe it's just me being pessimistic.

i don't see her playing Rosmalen , if she still didn't picked up a racquet and isn't able to run last days (cause the interview can't be that old) i think we have to be realistic about that.

Wimbledon will be her comeback and that will be a slam without expectations for going far in the tournament.

Haha typical, we all start discussing the fact that there hasnt been an update from daniela's website, and here one is lol thanks winemaker for posting it

As for the article, despite the fact that Daniela says that she still cannot run she still seems so positive about returning in time for wimbledon. She will have atleast another week to recoup but I still have my doubts. At least Daniela is staying strong mentally and not getting herself down for being away from the court for so long

Hmm..

Can she run or not??
Just don't get injured again so that I will not miss her for the next 3 month again..

About Rosmalen, I don't think she will be well prepare for it based on her condition now but we must stay positive and give her our support.. Although Wimbledon is Daniela favorite Slams, I just hope that she will not injured again. Stay healthy, fit and be stronger Daniela..
