Upon Phil's request from my birthday thread I decided to translate Daniela's post 2nd round match interview from Wimbledon. Can you give us your opinion on the match against Kleybanova? DH: Pity I didn’t manage to get a win, afterall the match was quite close. It didn’t look like that from the start, though, because my opponent almost swept me out of the court. Did you have any problems with fitness in the third set after such a long break caused by the injury? DH: No, I never had any fitness issues, not even now. I tried to keep myself fit even though I couldn’t play tennis. It was more a question of breakpoint opportunities I didn’t take. What can you say about your opponent? DH: Her serve caused me a lot of trouble. Even when I guessed its direction right. Given her style of play I couldn’t find any rhytm. I expected she would have a good serve, but not that good. What recipe is the best to defeat someone who pounds the balls on the other side of the court? DH: Just make her run. Twice or thrice from one corner to the other. She’s also strong and bulky, that’s why she tried to slow down the rallies (I guess Daniela wanted to say speed up the rallies, but it came out wrong  ).Prior to your match on court 3 Blake and Schüttler put up a long 5 sets fight. Were you nervous that you had to wait for so long? DH: No. In the past I used to be nervous in these situations, but now I was just happy, that I could be there and play. So you are not disappointed that you lost in 2nd round already? DH: I don’t take it as a tragedy. I am just glad, that I could play there. With my coach we see it as a starting point to build upon. Do you have any idea about your upcoming tournament schedule? DH: I do, but the most relevant thing is what will say the doctors. I am going to have a medical check-ups in Switzerland and Italy, then I will see. I plan to start in Stanford and Los Angeles. You consulted the injury with Martina Hingis. DH: She had the same injury, she insisted that I use a good footwear. (Nike is already working on a special tennis shoe for Daniela in case you didn't know) |

I read the article on dani on that interactive mag..... then I kept reading all the rest!!! It's very well made, especially the way it is designed (layout, photos). Absolutely loved it. |
