is the article accompanying the latest photos in the picture thread. It's a total junk, tabloid article as the fool who wrote it stretches the truth repeatedly to try and create an image of the tour and its players not close to reality.

"all eyes are drawn to a collection of blonde über-goddesses." "But the girls, who are uniformly blonde, leggy and flaunting their perfect bodies"
Not exactly an accurate depiction of the WTA tour's players. For one, Daniela, the subject of the article, is not even blonde!

"Like all the girls, she [Daniela] speaks in faltering English"
Daniela's English is excellent and cannot in any way be characterized as faltering. Same goes for many other players. Again, the author deforms and shapes the facts in order to paint the picture he wants.

"Intriguingly, the girls, studiously avoid each other on the dancefloor, each setting up court with their own group of salivating men in various spots around the lavish venue, the Opium Garden."
Somehow I doubt this is how these players' parties work. It's restricted to players from both tours, tournament sponsors, tour officials, et al. This quote makes it out as if the tours bus in hundreds of young men so that each girl has their own bunch of groupies to hang out with.

There's a handful of quotes from Daniela there, nothing we have not heard many times before.

It's the same stuff about Roland Garros that was on the official site yesterday, but there's a bit on Dubai and Ivanovic.

it sounded like ana and her arent close anymore... However, danka is really professional and still says ana is a nice girl.

I think Daniela was just trying to be diplomatic about. Funny though how in one article she mentions being against Ai and having a good relationship with her despite being enemies so to speak, but with Ana a different answer

For me, Daniela is blonde.

Hmmm hard to tell. I'd say she's a bit of both IMO :)

Slight off topic but this is Jankovic on Shazza:

One of Jankovic's rivals at the academy was Maria Sharapova. "I don't remember who was beating who but we were competitive. There was cheating..."

Jankovic breaks into her jangling laugh. "I remember those balls close to the line. She would never give them to me. I don't think I was cheating. But as kids we were doing so many things just to win matches. Now, when I look back, I want to laugh."

She shrugs when asked if Sharapova is more amiable now. "Not really. She is more on her own, with her team. She is not speaking to many players - if anyone."

From what I hear, Jankovic and Ivanovic don't get on that well.

well... I do like Ivanovic, but I dont really mind if she and danka arent getting along. They must have their reasons. And about Masha, well, we know she is like this. Jelena is very sincere hehe, the press loves the juicy details...

A short interview with Daniela from slovak tabloid Nový čas. Sorry for bad translation, some words and phrases they used... :eeek:

Withdrawing from RG, was it a tough decision?
DH: Considering the pain, which is still harassing me, it wasn‘t. However, I hoped it would eventually stop and allow me to play in Paris. Unfortunately, it didn‘t. So I followed my doctor‘s suggestion that if I wasn‘t patient it could be very bad with my heel in the future. And that is something I really don‘t want.

Yet you were reluctant to make a final decision.
DH: Yes, I was postponing it again and again, it didn‘t make any difference.

Daniela, didn‘t you overdo it with delay in treatment? Surely you played in big pain…
DH: That‘s true. When I look back I realize that it did hurt but I just kept playing. Before the YEC I had to play in pain to make certain results, after the YEC I didn‘t have much time to rest and treatment. If I had not used painkillers and medicaments I would not have been able to play. It peaked at Australian Open where the pain was at its worst. I started treating it but thought it would be fine in several days.

When exactly came the sign that you can‘t continue like that?
DH: It was coming, but I didn‘t listen. To be more accurate, I didn‘t want to listen. I didn‘t believe it could be that bad.

But now you do listen to your doctors...
DH: Yes, I do. I am a model of exemplary patient. I really, really want my heel to get better so that I would be able to play again.

What sort of treatment helps the most?
DH: Magnetic resonance, 3-4 hours each day. Swimming also helps a lot. I have started with my condition training a bit, shoulders, back and so. But it‘s nothing compared to what I do when I am healthy.

Not many days without tennis afterall…
DH: I am without tennis all the time these days. At first it was nice because I could experience a normal life for a while, not waking up with awareness that at this time I have a practice here, at that time a practice there... But now I already miss tennis very much, however at the same time I know I had to be patient.

wow, Im amazed how dankas best results were when she was in pain... specially AO. Makes you wonder what her results would've been if she was healthy, she couldve gone farther in IW and Miami thats for sure... but theres no use in thinking in the "what if". Im hoping when she comes back she can regain her form and reach great results. Get well soon danka :)
