If I'm reading this right, Doha and Dubai have flip-flopped their dates in February, and Daniela, recalling how weak she felt when she went from Fed Cup to her win and Thailand and then right straight to Dubai, appears to be skipping Doha, giving her a week between her title defense and Dubai. So that's one she's cut back on; we'll see. Just don't, Please, Daniela, don't get hurt and miss Miami! :o I already have the plane tickets...non-refundable!!

Let's Go, Daniela!

But Doha has more points on offer. Silly imo. She should play pattaya then Doha and not play Dubai.

Doha and Dubai have basically flipped around from last year as Dubai's gone from a six round tournament to five rounds while Doha's gone from five rounds to six rounds as well as swapping weeks.

I don't know if Daniela's playing Doha as the Doha website has no information about the entry list but I'm assuming she probably will as she's played there every year she's been fit since 2005.

Everyone: Slightly off topic, but it's something I know you'll really like. Go to and click onto Fed Cup BNP Paribas Heart Award. Daniela is a nominee. I'll quote the most pertinent part of the description: "It aims to recognize players who have represented their countries with distinction, Shown exceptional courage on court, and demonstrated outstanding commitment to the team during Fed Cup." How neat is that? It's a crippling blow to the "Mentally Fragile" Society. Dani's on-court heart has kind of been our little secret for a long time. Now, a respected international organization is ready to reward her for it (Evidently, fear is not a factor for her! ) We would do well to help her get this award. Let's stuff the ballot boxes! Let's Go, Daniela!

That is one amazing field for Stuttgart. Daniela will have to be sharp to advance even a round, though this was the point last year where she really began to click. Fingers crossed!
When Dani is idle for awhile, I have to find ways to pass the time. Thinking about how we all have our own ways of dealing with the wild rides she puts us through in what seems like every match, and being of a statistical bent, I dug through the archives and came up with some numbers that I hope will be interesting to you. Of Daniela's 474 career wins (how nice would it be for her to reach 500 this year!), 250 of them have been straight sets. In those 250 wins, there were 88 6-2 sets, 92 of 6-1, and 22 bagels. (In 3 set matches, she has added 16 6-loves, 8 of which have been in the 3rd set of a victory. None of her 772 matches has ever resulted in a double bagel! Something for Dani to shoot for!) There's more I could do, and with more idle time I just might. But what these stats prove is that it's not always the case that Daniela scares the living ^&*$%* out of us :!: Just sometimes! ;)

Let's Go, Daniela!

Thanks for the interesting stats Alex, has Daniela ever lost 60 60???

When Daniela doesn't play for a while it makes me realise that I probably won't follow women's tennis once she's retired...Charleston was so boring...!

Thanks, Eddy. As to the double bagel, that's both for and against, never happened. Kind of out of this world, Huh?

I think it's a good idea playing Brussels over Strasbourg. Lots of points up for grabs and a fairly weak field. Being seeded should help as she won't be seeded in Stuttgart or Madrid and probably not in Rome so Brussels could be one tournament where she could get a fairly easy draw.
