Kuznetsova has lost to Safina in the semi's so number 1 spot is between Ivanovic and Jankovic who are on court now. The winner of this match will be the new number 1 on Monday, and will most likely therefore be seeded number 1 at Wimbledon in just over two weeks time.

It also meens that Daniela will drop out of the top 10, considering how long shes been out for that isnt that much of a surprise.

Daniela will be back and I think she will manage to get back to the TOP 10 !!!
GO DANKA!! :slovakia:

Safina's only got second round points to defend at Wimbledon, so she should extend her ranking lead over Daniela there because even if Daniela's able to play, it's going to be difficult for her to defend her points.

true, but Safina hates grass. I don't think she'll be as dangerous there and take out several top10 players

Safina will be a top ten seed so she'll get an easier draw then she's had in the past. I don't think she'll do as well at Wimbledon as she's done at Roland Garros, but fourth round or conceivably the quarter-final are achievable for her. Even if Daniela's able to play at Wimbledon, it'll be a lot easier for Safina to extend her point lead over Daniela than it will be for Daniela to close it.

Safina doesn't have too many points to defend in the hardcourt season either.

If Danka can gain her fitness back, she'll be top ten again in very little time. At least I hope so... Im glad for Ana, and for Dinara as well (too bad it meant danka giving her top10 raking)...

my main concern is ''will danka have the same form as 07 and ao 08''?

It is always tough to get back in form after injuries. You r under pressure and worried that you can maybe get the same injuries again and so many other small things.I will expect her to get back to where she was at least after 2 tournaments. And the ranking is the last thing ever that I am concerned about. Like some other said, just play good and the rankings will take care of themselves.

Well Bartoli has semi-final points to save for birmingham so as far as seedings are concerned i think daniela will be seeded 10/11 for wimbledon

kind of agree. When Daniela plays her best (e.g. Australian Open SF first set) yes, she is a threat, but her problem is still delivering that kind of game throughout a tournament, or even throughout a match. If Daniela can concentrate and play like that more, she is one of the best.

Ivanovic is consistant I would say (and has a lot of will-power), therefore she is number 1. Sharapova too is consistant and has that special winner-mentality. Only a big injury will keep her from being top5. I am also impressed with Dementieva's game lately. She's is solid. But for some reason I was disappointed with Jankovic in the SF, Kuznetsova is good, but we've seen Daniela beat her several times, the sisters are hot messes right now, Chaky is going down.
For me the best players are:
Ivanovic
Sharapova
Dementieva
Zvonareva
Safina (hard to say, though, this is based on two tournaments, but she fights and never gives up, something that will win her a lot of matches)
