I believe that she has made the right decision for her body and her career. although i am very sad i am pleased that she withdrew. and this year a lot of players seem to be pulling out like roddick and davenport and now bartoli might even withdraw ( :twisted:

)

the positives out of this:
-daniela will not have to recover from a grueling clay season
-will not have to adjust from slow clay to fast grass
-will not have any points to defend next year
-more time to heal without straining anything
negatives:
-miss one grand slam (so what, others have done it)
-lack match practice (but she will be fresher coming into the grass court season

Thank gods, I really was afraid that she would make a wrong decision. I am glad she made the right one... luv ya, Daniela. Come back when you are 100% healthy or when the doctors tell you to. We will wait no matter how much time you need.

Oh ! my God. I'm so, so sad. My seven days in RG will be so different without her.

But it may be the right decision. I think it's more heartbreaking for her than for me.

Sorry no time for jokes, this is seriouse. I feel for Daniela because grandslams is what she plays tennis for. We will just have to bite the lip and look to the future. Get well soon Daniela, im tearing my hear out not being able to see you play

i know this is the best decision , but RG will suck so much for me now, no Daniela, no Tati

Well danka's draw was quite difficult anyway. They haven't taken her name out of the draw yet.

1R Salerni (that would have been fine)
2R Pironkova/Tanasugarn (quite tricky either way)
3R A.Bondarenko(24) (tough if Alona brings her "A" game
4R Serena(5)
QF Ivanovic(2)

Well we'll never know...

At least she can rest or practice for two weeks on grass.

EDIT It appears there was some kinda of re-draw or fake draw or something so now dani's name is not in it and the draw is completley different!

since was thinking to play,seems the healing is going well
lets hope in next update from her site to read that started to practice again

Well thats absolutely the right decision. Hopefully she gets back on tour early enough to play on her favourite surface.

i'm very happy she made the decision, it means she's totally concentrated on getting back to 100% fitness rather than the tournaments she could be playing, while it will be disappointing not to see her at this gs, the decision is no doubt one we should all be comfortable with!

to be honest after the last interview,i have doubts for wimbledon
afterall the heel issue is much more worse than we had thought

Everyone must pay the price for being stubborn and careless, Daniela will be lucky to play the Olympics imo.

The Fed Cup doctor projected 6-9 weeks for recovery, it's currently 5+ weeks. Also, I cannot find any other comparable injuries in other sports or tennis having a recovery time longer than 10 weeks. Unless we hear evidence from Daniela or her team that her recovery is well behind schedule, it's reasonable to target her return for Rosmalen or Wimbledon. If not then, certainly by the Olympics.
