What a couple weeks it's been for #Hantuchova! After @BrisbaneTennis success, she beats #Schiavone in straights to advance to QFs #AIS2012

Daniela and agnieszka had pull out of Doubles after both are in QF

Oh no it was Daniela with the medical Time Out
“@SydneyTennis: Via @WTA Hantuchova/Radwanska have withdrawn from doubles due to #Hantuchova's left foot injury. Daniela will remain in singles #AIS2012”

Hopefully it's just a precaution. Daniela did say that her left heel wasn't fully healed yet.

Great start to 2012 for Daniela, despite the disappointment of the Brisbane final. Kvitova will be very tough match up, especially as Daniela is yet to pick up a set in their previous three meetings. Daniela will undoubtedly be confident going into this, but no expectations on my part, just hope for a good performance.

Wozniacki wasn't about to let it go though, winning six games in a row to escape with a 75 26 64 victory.

"She was hammering the ball. I was just standing there and trying to figure out what to do," Wozniacki commented. "I felt like everything I tried to do wasn't working and I was making a lot of unforced errors. So I said, 'Okay, let's just keep a margin to the lines and give her that extra ball.' It paid off in the end.

God forbid she actually stepped up and tried to hit a winner and win the match on her raquet!

Why bother to do that when you can sit back and watch your opponent self-destruct?

If Scott is Ever the Optimist, I am Ever the Glass Half Empty. I'm cringing; sick at heart. Every time Dani starts to play her best and we dare to hope and dream, something horrible happens. We of course were aware that the foot was not healed and that it could get bad at any time. Rather than look forward to tonight, now I'm dreading it. A walkover, a retirement, a straight set blasting; that's all I can see. And the week before a major when she was in good form...well, if we didn't know that was coming, we don't understand life as a Daniela fan.
Yet there is this: After stopping the match and getting treatment, Daniela goes out and plays the best string of 4 games since last summer, and wallops #11 in the world, dealing out more aces than a crooked dealer in poker! Does it make sense? Come on. We know that when it comes to what goes on between the lines, it is not allowed to use Daniela and logic in the same sentence! Maybe she'll be OK; maybe she'll even leave Kvitova Petrafied! Hope so!

Let's Go, Daniela!

Don't worry Alex! The fact Daniela is in the quarter-finals should make us happy. She was very wise to not play doubles yesterday. Sometimes she has a day where her foot hurts more than usual e.g. Quebec last year so hopefully she'll wake up today and feel it's ok. I just hope she doesn't play if she's in pain..next week is a mandatory tournament obviously and that's where she needs to get points as last year her mandatory results were poor apart from French Open and Wimbledon. Daniela should just try and enjoy Sydney, and see what happens.

too bad I'll have to drive to university exactly when the match starts.. :?

I'll record it and upload it tomorrow along with some other matches (like vs. Clijsters) and some from 2011..

Reching the QF here is a very good result and I really hope Dani is going to give Kvitova a good fight!

so play will start in a few minutes. seems to be very windy...

daniela starts to serve

0-1. daniela saves a BP,has a GP,but got broken. Great shots from kvitova...
0-2. kvitova holds to 30
0-3. broken to 0. soo windy and kvitova returns very good
daniela calls for pistolesi during the break, she didn't know what to do, but kvitova plays so well, there is nothing you can really do IMO :D ;)
0-4. kvitova holds to 0
0-5. daniela broken to 30
0-6. kvitova holds to 0. plays one winner by one... poor dani :?

This is frightening from Kvitova... :?

This is upsetting... :o

There's literally nothing Daniela can do when Kvitova is in this form.

Somehow Daniela has got to stay positive try and get on the scoreboard.

Easy points for kvitova..daniela hit the ball slow and sloppy without power. I wonder what her game plan is against kvitova, think she must be agressive like the clijsters match. Omfg 0-5 this must be akward?! COME ON DANIELA SHOW HER THE WHOLE COURT
