Daniela should enter Singapore in good spirits. Not only is she telling us that her shoulder is notably better, but I looked at Tennis Wearhouse the last 2 days, and it looks like the 2012 calendar has already sold out. Gotta have a second printing!

Let's Go, Daniela!

Would be nice if Daniela can have at least two matches here..

edit: Actually if she wins against Pennetta she'll play three altogether: SF and either 3rd/4th place match or final..

1-4 down in 3rd set.. :x

pennetta d. Daniela 76 16 61

Daniela was 5-2 up in 1st set and won the 2nd set emphatically so encouraging signs there. By losing here at least she can fly off to Brisbane now and train, relax before new season starts.

Technically Daniela only lost one more game than flavia but it is concerning that the 3rd set wasn't close. I think next year it's going to be important to win matches in straights, especially against lower ranked players in order to hold off her heel and shoulder niggles.

It would have been lovely if Daniela had won, especially as she was 5-2 up in the first and had so much momentum going into the third. It's disappointing that she wasn't able to close out the first from the strong position she had and how she fell away in the third (or maybe Pennetta was amazing). Still, it's an exhibition so hopefully Daniela can learn from this and see what she did well and also what she needs to work on. Winning would have been a big boost to her confidence as it's been a while since she's beaten a good player and it would have given her a bit of momentum for the new season.

Hopefully, Daniela can have a good time in Australia preparing for the new season and she doesn't have any points to defend in Australia so any good run she has will boost her points and ranking. The important thing is that Daniela's fit and healthy for the new year because when she was fit last year she was playing some great tennis and having great results. Doing well here would have been nicwe but doing well in Australia is a lot more important.

Pennetta beat Stosur 7-5 6-7 6-2 so she's in the final against Agnieszka who thrashed Peng. Pennetta's 4-0 against Stosur on the tour so it's not that much of a shock although it still shows that Pennetta's playing well. Stosur was 5-2 up in the first set just like Daniela. I really feel that Daniela would have had a much better chance against Peng or Medina Garrigues.

Pennetta beat Agnieszka 6-4 7-5 to win the tournament so Flavia's obviously playing well at the moment and it puts Daniela's result in a bit of perspective. Agnieszka was 5-2 up in the second set so Pennetta had her where she wanted her. Stosur beat Peng to get third place. It would have been nice for Daniela to have had another match to get a bit more match practice and a win would have given her a boost but Pennetta's been in good form this week.
