Really good draw for Daniela. Kuznetsova has been in poor form and lost to McHale yesterday (although McHale did beat Wozniacki last week in Cincy). Parmentier is a nice opener, and should be a comfortable win for Daniela. Paszek could be very tricky in the second round; it depends which Tamira shows up... And to be in Wozniacki's fourth round section is better than being in Zvonareva's, Sharapova's, or Azarenka's. And Li Na is the likely opposing quarter-finalist in Daniela's quarter. All in all a draw that Daniela will surely be determined to make good use of. Not a Williams sister in sight.

now that really seems like a nice draw. Hopefully taking some rest this week will be a strongest Daniela next week.
can't wait to see her back on court. =D

Paszek in 2nd round is definitely tough. I think daniela lost to her in bali semis a few years ago but that was when daniela was returning from that horrid stress fracture. Obviously 1st round parmentier must be respected but kuznetsova is certainly beatable atm if they meet in 3rd round. A 4th round showing here would be sweet but it's been a few years since daniela made the quarters of a slam and this is an ideal draw to take advantage of. Good luck daniela!

Good draw though I would say it's not the best she's had this month though. I think almost everyone is way, way too low on Wozniacki because she's played, what, two bad matches over the last month. I'd actually co-favor her to win the tournament alongside Sharapova, though I wouldn't give any better than 5 to 1 odds. People overreact to small sample sizes way too much in sports.

On another note, NYC is going to be hit and likely hit hard by Hurricane/Tropical Storm Irene on Sunday, so there will be no tennis until Monday at the earliest. It doesn't look like the storm will be quite powerful enough to cause the kind of damage that would cause prolonged delays, though it's unclear how the city would recover from a storm of this magnitude given how rare it is for a hurricane to hit New York.

It's a fairly decent draw. Parmentier hasn't done much on the main tour and most of the time she's been playing on the ITF circuit. She's had some decent wins against Suarez Navarro and Jovanovski and she also beat Goerges in the Fed Cup last year, but these her best recent results. Daniela should win this easily enough.

Daniela thrashed Amanmuradova in Pattaya and Amanmuradova hasn't done anything this year. Paszek's the likely second round opponent and she's been getting a lot of wins recently although she's had very few top 50 wins this year. She beat McHale and Schiavone at Wimbledon so she's got a bit of momentum although she's been injured recently with an abdominal strain.

Kuznetsova's the first seed Daniela's due to play and her recent form hasn't been great. At the same time Kuznetsova has a good record against Daniela and beat her at Roland Garros so revenge would be nice and Daniela's won the last match on hard courts.

Wozniacki's the seeded fourth round opponent and Daniela's beaten her at a slam already this year plus Woznicki's recent form has been fairly modest. She is still the no. 1 so has to be respected.

Daniela can do well here but she has to get past Parmentier first.

There's doubt over whether the first day of the tournament will be able to go ahead as planned due to public transport being out until Monday afternoon. Daniela could end up playing Wednesday.
