Azarenka d Martinez Sanchez 61 62

Either Daniela didn't show up yesterday or Martinez played amazing yesterday, either way Daniela should have made it through to 3rd round at this tournament...

Both Wimbledon finalists are out. Kvitova has been downed by an awesome Petkovic and Sharapova lost to Voskoboeva, who had the biggest win of her career for the third time this week.

Roland Garros champ Li out as well, and Zvonareva beaten by Radwanska for the second time in less than a week. Vinci backed up her win over Wozniacki with a straight-sets win over Ivanovic.

Odd quarter-final line-up for such a big event:

Vinci v STOSUR

A.RADWANSKA v PETKOVIC

Voskoboeva v AZARENKA

SCHIAVONE OR Safarova v S.Williams OR Zheng

I hoped that Martinez Sanchez would at least be competitive against Azarenka but the match wasn't even close. The conditions for the match against Martinez Sanchez weren't good for Daniela as it was played in windy conditions on a tiny outside court and there was an interruption for rain, none of which Daniela would have liked but it was the same for both players. There have been an awful lot of strange results and upsets this week, both in Toronto and Montreal. Hopefully, this was just a blip and Daniela can get back on track in Cincinnati. It would have been nice for Daniela to have been able to have a run in the doubles but her partner withdraws for the second week in a row.

Daniela Hantuchova is right about everything.

Yet managed to beat Zvonareva today, so it was most likely a precautionary pull-out.
