match will start in a few minutes :)

My word, court 4 really is a practice court with some frills.

Good for spectators though as they can get so close to the action.

Martinez Sanchez breaks through again, and now leads 6-5. Perhaps she'll stumble again serving for the set. I think I'd favour Daniela in a tie-break.

Break point conversion:
MS - 3/7
DH - 2/3

Daniela couldn't have done much better on that front. She is just not doing well enough on serve.

No stumble for Martinez Sanchez, as she holds to 15, and takes the opening set 7-5. Daniela with alot of work to do.

Well from 1-2 in the second set it was all Martinez Sanchez. Disappointing because it would have been good for Daniela to have another shot, potentially, at Azarenka, given their close match at Wimbledon.

Martinez Sanchez did beat Pavlyuchenkova though, and she did beat Jankovic at Wimbledon, so it's certainly far from some of Daniela's tough losses.

This sucks. It seems like everything that could have gone wrong for Daniela went wrong for her: being put out on a small court, windy conditions and then a rain delay when she was building a bit of momentum at the start of the second set. Still, Martinez Sanchez is a good player who's building a bit of form at the moment so she's not a player that Daniela should never lose to but I feel that this is the sort of match Daniela should win to make a push into the top 20 and higher. Mind you, everyone
Daniela's service stats weren't great she won 50% 1st & 2nd serves in the first set on 67% first serves in but only won 1/8 on second serves in the second set. I wonder if the conditions were a factor in that as Daniela doesn't like playing in wind too much and I wonder how her shoulder is.

This is only one match and Martinez Sanchez is a good player and there have been much bigger upsets this tournament. There's still the doubles so a good run there would be nice and Daniela did get her first win in Toronto for eight years

Fucking hell, Vinci just beat Wozniacki from 1-5 down in the second set. Wozniacki's not recovered from Daniela beasting her at Roland Garros.

Daniela Hantuchova is right about everything.

It's so frustrating as daniela's hasn't had a good US open series for a number of years now and it's a really good time of the year to pick up lots of points. Hope for a good draw next week. I guess at least she won a match. Daniela's not lost a 1st round match since indian wells this year so that's pretty good going but it's high time we saw her get to the business end of these big premier 5 tournaments as it's been a long long time since she's contended for a big one.
