Dulko's pretty decent for the first round and someone that Daniela should be able to beat easily enough. Pavyluchenkova the likely opponent in the second round and will be a lot harder as she was absolute kryptonite to Daniela last year, but that was then and this is now and if Daniela gets through that, Azarenka's the seeded opponent for the third round.

I'd rather have had Daniela still being in Carlsbad but hopefully Daniela can get enough time to prepare in Toronto and put in a good run.

"At least I have motivation more. In Toronto and Cincinnati already in the occupation will go to solid," stated D. Hantuchova, who will play doubles in Canada is with Agnieszka Radwanska with laughter and pointed to "by stabbing it as it went against me today."

It's a very good draw considering the field. I would like to think that daniela will get past dulko as daniela has a good record against her and also dulko is best suited to clay. If daniela plays pavy then of course daniela's going to have to play superb tennis. 3rd round here would be terrific and lots of points on offer. Also next week daniela could get a beast of a draw so daniela's got to take advantage of this slightly easier draw. Nice not having points to defend until US open too.

I also noticed that all that's missing is a big title win or a strong GS showing and Daniela would be in top 15. Comon Daniela!

The draw is nice, as she can pass Dulko and why not beat Anastasia too. The Russian isn't playing great lately and I see a chance over there. GL Daniela.

I know she and aga are going to kill doubles as Daniela will be fired up. Daniela to win singles and doubles.

Annoying we won't be able to watch her match. On a positive if Daniela gets past Dulko she will face Martinez Sanchez who just beat Pavyluchenkova. Maybe the draw is now slightly easier but firstly she must get past Dulko.

Martinez Sanchez beat Pavylyuchenkova so she's next for Daniela should Daniela beat Dulko. You've really got to favour Daniela against Dulko as she's beaten Dulko in straight sets the last four times they've played, plus Dulko's coming back from injury and getting married. Dulko beat Stosur at Roland Garros and she's had some good wins in her career but she hasn't had that many wins against top players over the past year while Daniela's been in good form in recent months.

I'd certainly rather see Daniela play Martinez Sanchez than Pavlyuchenkova, although given Daniela's recent form I think she would have been the favourite against the Russian anyway. First though it's Dulko. As others have said, Daniela should win this one, and I'd expect a straight-sets win in all honesty.

Elsewhere, Stanford finalist Bartoli and two-time slam champion Kuznetsova both lost in the opening round to qualifiers. And Jankovic is a set and a break down to Goerges.

edit: Jankovic out, beaten 6-1 6-3.
