Daniela should be able to beat Zahlavova Strycova easily enough although Zahlavova Strycova did beat Daniela at Wimbledon last year. Then Daniela had to play a match the day before whereas this time Zahlavova Strycova's had a long tough match the day before and Daniela's rested. Plus Daniela's been in very good form recently while Zahlavova Strycova hasn't done much since Wimbledon last year. She did beat Kvitova in Indian Wells but the only other good players Zahlavova Strycova's beaten this year's been Petrova in Sydney and Pennetta in Bastad. The rest of the time good players have beaten her fairly easily.

It would have been nice for Daniela to have played doubles and gotten a bit of match practice on the court but she'll have been training and the last time she played doubles with Kirilenko in Charleston, they had a long tough match that probably tired Daniela out before her singles the next day. Singles is most important and the important thing is that Daniela's ready for that.

I don't think this tournament is televised before the quarter-finals. Toronto should be televised all the way through although it'll probably only be the centre court and Cincinnati should be televised as that's a joint event and ATP Masters are televised from the start.

Quality 1st set from Daniela 6-1 in half an hour, now keep your focus Daniela and try and win this in straights..

Very encouraging.

Really good win by Daniela who dominated the match. I don't know what happened at the start of the second set but it seemed like Zahlavova Strycova caught fire and Daniela maybe had a wee bit of a letdown, but Daniela regrouped well and dominated the rest of the set. A crucial game was the seventh game of the set when Strycova saved 2 BPs to get it back to deuce but Daniela won the next 2 points to go ahead in the set and she raced through the rest of the match.

It's a very good win and the sort of win that Daniela should have against players like Zahlavova Strycova and she keeps her form and momentum. Maybe Daniela could have had a higher 1st serve percentage - only 55% - but she defended her second serve well winning 61% and won 88% of her first serve. Overall a very nice win and performance.
