Daniela's always beaten Zheng fairly easily in the past and Zheng's form this year has been pretty modest.
The main concern is how Daniela's shoulder is and how much Birmingham's taken out of her. Zheng had to play two matches today so she won't be particularly fresh but she doesn't have to travel and she's used to the conditions in Eastbourne.

Daniela's got a good chance of doing well here but there is the possibility of a letdown as she's played a lot of tennis recently, we don't know what her shoulder's like and Daniela could be tired. The most important thing is that she's fit and ready for Wimbledon and doesn't aggravate her shoulder.

Daniela Hantuchova is right about everything.

Yup, I wouldn't mind a withdrawal here. The odds of her gaining big points are quite small and she's already got plenty of momentum coming off of Birmingham. Get healthy for Wimbledon.

That being said, Zheng is pretty much finished as a quality player to the extent she ever really was one. Her ranking was artificially inflated by two fluke runs in Grand Slams, both aided by soft draws.

I think it would be great if Daniela can beat Zheng and have a go at Li. Anything after that a bonus. But obviously if she withdraws due to shoulder either pre or during match then of course will respect decision.

I think i'm an advocate of Daniela withdrawing from Eastbourne as well... it's not as if she's got a bunch of points to defend, she's potentially injured and even if she managed to string a couple of wins together she'd be hampering her campaign for Wimbledon, simply because she's been playing so much tennis. She's got a dream first round opponent (considering the depth of the field), but i don't think this outweighs the negatives. The draw hardly opens up if she manages to defeat Li anyway.

EDIT: i just became a grand slam champion! yay! haha

They made us wait for it, but finally Safarova/Bartoli has finished after 2 hours and 20 minutes of play. Daniela vs Zheng is next
