A lot will depend on how fit Daniela is, especially whether she plays or not. She's still on the entry list right now. The most important thing is her health and that's got to be the priority. If she's injured or playing will exacerbate her injury then it's not worth it and she should just skip this tournament or retire if she feels any pain during a match. I just hope that if she does play, she can be competitive.

We'll just see what happens.

If the situation really is as bad as the Reuters report makes out then she really ought to withdraw-a tennis player cannot afford to mess around with shoulder injuries. It's depressing, but I think this has been an ongoing issue for a while, because her serve looked like it was lacking zip ever since the French Open, and recurrent problems with the shoulder would certainly explain why. :(

Hope she will get better.... I would really like to see her playing in Beijing. But I dont think I will... if its too serious, she cant play :(

I don't know much about Hercog, except that she's one an upcoming player. Had a look at her recent results and they are not all that great having 4 straight sets losses to Chakvetadze, Cirstea, Minella and Szavay. I'd have full confidence that a FIT Daniela would beat Hercog, but I'm not sure about Daniela's condition at present.

Anyone know what type of player Hercog is?

Very good draw indeed. So long as daniela is fit..

Post subject:  Re: China Open, Beijing

This is a pretty decent draw. Hercog's recent form has been very modest. Hercog's best results have all been on clay: she got to the Acapulco final this year and took a set from Venus and she beat Safarova at Roland Garros and beat Kleybanova there last year. Hercog hasn't done much on hardcourt and as long as Daniela's fit, she should be able to beat Hercog. However, we don't know how fit Daniela is and that could be decisive.

The important thing is that Daniela's able to get through without further injury and that she doesn't do any damage to her shoulder. Her health is the most important thing.

Hopefully Daniela's fit so she can take advantage of a somewhat decent draw.

It'd be nice if we had something to cheer about before the end of the season.

Cant believe :O this is a really good draw after those horrible ones...

Well, hope Daniela is fit and can take advantage of that!

Her report of the injury is kinda scary, but she is still playing here... I really think she shouldn't. Please danka stay healthy :)
