Oh Dani Hani!!!!

Chances to break back to level at 4-4, but instead doesn't capitalise and then gets broken in the next game to give the set to Hercog.

At least she finally broke now, but she isn't doing herself any favours by making this match longer than it should be. Hope her shoulder/arm is holding up!

sickening... 2-5 down in third set.

hercog has not beaten anyone of note since the french open. meh!

3-5 now! please break! BLEH!!!!! all over red rover!

second match this year where she had won a set 6-0, but still lost the match. AND she had won more points as well. i am embarrassed and frustrated for her. i don't know how much her "injury" affected her, but its just so odd that she goes from a perfect second set to absolute struggling in the third. please be more consistent. what turned out to be a promising first half of the season, has turned into an absolute doozy of a second half.

of the 4 premier mandatory events, she bombed out in the first round in 3 of them!!!

the only positive i can gain from this, is that she has little points to defend next year and can gain points. but that means taking advantage of reasonable draws, which this one was.

Extremely depressing, really Daniela must have been really bad to lose against Hercog on Hardcourt. The only positive thing is that she has now enough time to prepare for a hopefully not too bad indoor season at Linz and Luxembourg.

Redicoulous match by Daniela. Her record at Premier events are just horrible this year. Only a 4r (1 R bye) in Miami.
Pathetic by her. If she was really injured, she should skip this and go to Linz next week. Or at least, she could have tried to win a bad hc player.

What to say... As I posted before on a different thread, Daniela's team this year looks like a Louna Park company. No professionality at all. She need to change a lot of things to be back on a "Top 30" level next year.
Is there any other person here who believe she stop enjoying playing the Tour? I can't see and passion or win desire on her eyes or body...

Sadly this result was to be expected.

Is there any other person here who believe she stop enjoying playing the Tour? I can't see and passion or win desire on her eyes or body... My suspicion is that, like Justine and Jelena beforehand,Etcheberry has simply overtrained her.

That's an awful, awful loss. And yes, it's beyond obvious that she needs to dump her whole training staff at this point. That may be putting the blame on the wrong people (i.e. away from Daniela), but it's the only decision to be made at this point. Nothing else to say about it.

This is desperately disappointing in so many ways. Hercog was in terrible form and has really done nothing of note away from clay but Daniela lost to her and it's another match where she had momentum and was in control and then let it slip. Daniela had had a lot of tough openers earlier in the year but this was about as good an opener as she could have hoped for and she didn't take advantage.
Maybe Hercog played really well although her second set stats are appalling. Daniela had 5 BPs in the 1st and 3rd set but didn't win any and Hercog's 2nd serve stats in those sets were strong at 70% and 85%. These are basically the decisive stats for the match.

It does seem like playing against Serbia in the Fed Cup took so much out of her and playing in it injured has really set her back. She played so well in Miami and Charleston but since the Fed Cup her results have generally been pretty modest, Roland Garros and San Diego apart. I just wonder how fit she's really been this year. Daniela has had problems with her back and shoulder for at least the past year. At the same time, if Daniela turns up to play then she feels she's fit enough to compete and most of the players that she's lost to this year have been good players, but Hercog really isn't that good a player. I don't know how I'll feel if she beats Schiavone.

Personally, I think Daniela should spend the off season training in Las Vegas with Darren Cahill and Gil Reyes.

Daniela Hantuchova is right about everything.

This is a pretty disappointing loss... hopefully some of it can be chalked up to Daniela's injury.
