1st match on grass is always gunna be tough...especially after a good run on clay at roland garros. I bet Daniela is spraying balls really long over the baseline a lot...

64 62 in 1hr 48

6/23 break points taken...nuff said...next up either Stosur or Oudin...both will be tough...

Well done for at least winning...but i expect lots to be improved on...

OMG at her bp conversion

I will make excuses for her since this was her first match on grass of the season (still, pretty poor to convert 6 out of 23).

A win is a win, though, hope she improves for the next match :)

Looking at the match statistics, this must have been a DREADFUL match on Daniela's part. Her 2nd serve seems to only be getting worse as time goes by, and it was already a weak spot in her game. The BP conversion of 6 out of 23? YIKES!!!!! She's lucky she got to play Keathovong; Clijsters or Wozniacki would have beaten her 6-1, 6-1.

maybe it's better that she didn't win without any problems because now she knows what she has to improve for her next match and of course for wimbledon :)

I don't see her winning against Sam with this performance (from what I heard and the SB). Hopefully we can see another Daniela in the next match.

Well the scoreline was certainly deceiving. Daniela stats are SO bad! Haha.
I guess we can laugh about it now because she won, but she's definitely not going to get by with this form in the next round. :S

Well, there's some "good" news for Daniela. Dementieva has withdrawn from Wimbledon, meaning Daniela will be seeded 24th, thereby avoiding the 1-8 seeds in the 3rd round. This also means that Clijsters will be seeded 8th, and safely out of Daniela's way in the 3rd round. On the other hand, I don't know if this makes such a difference. I don't see Daniela beating most of the players in the 9-16 bracket either.

Oh wow, do you expect daniela to beat anyone? We all know that she can do wonders on a good day and then lose to Brie Whitehead the next... I wish to remain hopeful and not judge her based on her first match on grass.

And even then, I trust our girl to make her best effort while on her favorite surface.

Doubles can also help her get more match play, so that's a plus.

I'm terrible sorry for Elena, she is one of my faves and it hurts me to see how unlucky she can be, not unlike danka :x

ps:bp conversion is indeed a concern

Well, I don't think Daniela will lose 4th time in row from Sam.

Not for nothing, but this draw is very wide open if and only if Daniela gets by Stosur.
