(1) S. Williams (USA) vs Bye
V. Dushevina (RUS) vs Q
A. Pavlyuchenkova (RUS) vs D. Hantuchova (SVK)
(16) N. Petrova (RUS) vs E. Vesnina (RUS)
(11) M. Sharapova (RUS) vs L. Safarova (CZE)
O. Govortsova (BLR) vs Q
A. Dulgheru (ROU) vs M. Czink (HUN)
(6) E. Dementieva (RUS) vs A. Wozniak (CAN)

This is the worst possible placement that Daniela could have. And once more, here we go. 1st r exit maybe. Dear and dear... This is too pathetic.

Well, her ranking doesn't do her any favors... She shouldve played Estoril or smth :x I guess she will enter Warsaw, maybe...

I'm betting on a first-round exit too. She'll probably enter Warsaw as a wildcard, just like she did last year.
On another note, just how bizarre is it that Jankovic and Ivanovic drew each other in the second round, after both getting byes in the first round? That match is gonna be TENSE. They don't like each other at-all, and it's only gotten worse after Ivanovic bailed on Fed Cup.

I really think this draw is good for daniela. Every round will be tough and she should just go for it. It's a good gauge before roland garros. Also a good opportunity for revenge against pav. Would love a 3r show down with S. I don't think they've ever played on clay...but obviously two really hard matches to get thru first.

Ouch.

There certainly is hope for round 1 as Pavlyuchenkova has had her share of awful results and is capable of gifting a match at any time. Of course, she's also capable of playing as she did in Mexico where Daniela had almost nochcance.

BAAH.

This is another difficult first round for Daniela. Still, considering the quality of players in the draw it was always likely that Daniela would have a tough opponent early on.

We know that Pavlyuchenkova beat Daniela in Dubai and Monterey and she beat Schiavone in Miami, so the recent matchups don't look too brilliant. Admittedly, these were all on hard courts and red clay is a different surface.
Pavlyuchenkova lost to Brianti in the first round in Rome and her results at Ponte Vedra Beach weren't particularly impressive so her most recent form on clay hasn't been great and clay's been her weakest surface in terms of results plus it neutralises Pavlyuchenkova's power and exposes her movement.

This is going to be a difficult match, especially given Pavlyuchenkova's results and performances against Daniela this year but this match is on a different surface and Daniela's form since Monterey has been very good. Daniela's got a chance but she's got a tough opponent and this would be a good win for her. This tournament is one that really will have to be taken one match at a time.

Daniela Hantuchova is right about everything.

Oh god, what a delightful draw...not! Ah well, Daniela's ranking means that she will continue to get draws like this unless she beats the top players more consistently, I saw someone mention that there are other smaller tournaments that Daniela could have played but that just isnt how Daniela works, but I wish she did think that way sometimes, nevermind, the draw has been made, it's a tough, tough draw and we'll just have to see what happens this week.

Yes, daniela never looks at lesser tourneys...
As I said on TF: Whe she draws a Williams, Danka always gets there
