Daniela got through after Jelena got injured and had to retire hurt. Daniela plays Martina Hingis in the semi-final tomorrow. |

Daniela lost to Martina Hingis in the semi-final 7-6 6-2. Interestingly it's the same score that Hingis beat Bertens by and Bertens was no 4 in 2019 while Daniela retired in 2017. |

Kim Clijsters beat Hingis 7-5 6-2 in the final to win the tournament. |

Dear Daniela Hantuchová, thank you very much for these kind words "It was such a pleasure to play competitively again and I'd like to thank IWTP, the city of Luxembourg, and all of the sponsors for giving us this opportunity. I never thought i would have the chance to compete again and i could not stop smiling during the weeks leading up to the tournament from the pleasure having to prepare for it even if our bodies were hurting like crazy at times not being used to this anymore! I also want to thank the fans who came out to support us. I look forward to playing again next year.It was lovely to explore the city once again too, which brought so many wonderful memories from the years back in the day. And tomorrow, surely, I will start training again!" |
