Hi everyone
I want to tell you with all my appreciation and happiness inside of me,that the time has come to retire from professional tennis.This does not mean that I’m saying good bye to tennis at all!i have learned that it is impossible in life to say good bye to the people and things we love with all our heart and for me tennis is one of them..it has been part of my soul and DNA every since i have picked up my first tennis racket and have hit the first tennis ball against the wall..that feeling will stay in me forever..
Im so so thankfull to all the incredible things that has happened to me on and off the court and i would not b the person I’m today thanks to all of that..the good and the bad..the ups and the downs..its been all part of an incredible journey that does not finish here…because it is a journey of a lifetime of all of us together,just from now on without a tennis bag on my shoulders:) and i hope we have many more new chapters infront of us to share together..
Being part of the wta,itf,the Slovak fed cup and Olympic team has been the biggest blessing and privilege and words are not enough to explain all the thankfulness towards everybody that takes care of us in the tournaments,felow players,our stuff and teams around the players and most imporantalny you guys…Being able to share this journey with all of you meant the world to me and we r not finished here..
When we close one chapter of our life the next one openes up and I’m so excited about being able to share it all together with u!
Lets see what life will arrange for all of us!

not surprised but it's still difficult to accept that it is over for good. No chance of a last surprise-run. She gave me so many good tennis-memories, especially Indian Wells 2007 and the 2006 Australian Open match against Serena. If i could chance one match in her career, it would be the 2008 Australian Open SF

Isn't this so complete, quintessential Daniela? Many athletes who achieved even some fame announce their retirement with a splashy press conference. Others don't even say anything, leaving their fans in a lurch until it becomes public in some other way. Daniela, bless her ever enlarging heart, gives the news straight to us fans on her social media platforms. I think she might have caught the media off guard a bit. Just love it. Thank you so much, Daniela!

It's been a week since Daniela retired. I've got to admit that I teared up a few times last week and over the weekend but the last time was on Sunday. I'll miss her playing but Daniela's so happy and looking forward to all the possibilities that lie ahead of her.

Il tuo ritiro dalle competizioni è iniziato da lontano, e un poco mi hai preparato, e ormai sapevo (come molti altri) che era dietro l'angolo, e sapevo che sarei stato egualmente colto dalla malinconia di non poter più ammirare la tua grazia su un campo da tennis.
Anonimo e lontano ammiratore, con intendimento puro, non ti dimenticherò mai. Perché anni fa mi donasti la rivelazione della tua presenza: effluvio dell'anima che cade leggero e irresistibile, e potente si spande e deposita, e con tranquilla gioia dirompe nella memoria. Mi hai fatto ricordare ciò che credevo di aver dimenticato, hai rinnovato una remota ispirazione. Tutto ha una ragione di essere.

Of course, the year Daniela retires, the US Open is upset city galore and the draw is opening wide.

BTW, when is Halep going to get branded the way our gal was for performance on a big stage? She has it coming far more than Dani did. :evil:
