A semifinal! Can't recall the last one of those. Very efficient win for Dani today. I'm not bothered by the BP numbers because almost all of them came in 2 games, and she won one of those. #568 today. How about 2 more this week, Dani? |

Daniela lost 6-4 6-4. It's disappointing as this was a good chance for Daniela to get to the final but it wasn't to be. Daniela was 2-0 in the first set but Daniela lost her next three service games - she also broke von Deichmann - to find herself 3-5 down before von Deichmann won the set 6-4. Von Deichmann won all 3 BPs she had in the first set but Daniela was only 2/6, she had chances to to go 3-1 up and get to 4-4 but couldn't convert. Daniela also lead 2-0 in the second set and was 30-30 on her serve before von Deichmann won 10 points in a row to lead 3-2. Daniela broke back and held to lead 4-3 but Deichmann held, broke Daniela to 30 and then served the match out. Deichmann won all six BPs she had which is pretty freakish while Daniela was 4/9. Daniela & von Deichmann won a pretty similar percentage of first serve points (56.4% for Daniela, 55.6% for von Deichmann) but von Deichmann got far more first serves in at 83.9% to Daniela's 63.9% while she won 5/10 of her second serve points compared to Daniela going only 6/22. It would have been great if Daniela had won this but von Deichmann beat fifth seed Solovyeva and former top 50 player Torro-Flor so she's in good form this week. |

Oh well. It is still an encouraging week. I don't know the point allotments for ITF tourneys, but I hope Daniela picked up enough to get her into the 100's, or close to it. And it's nice to be able to look forward to her next event.

Petra Martic beat von Deichmann 6-4 7-5 to win the tournament. Martic is a former doubles partner of Daniela's so that's nice for her. |
