Tough 1st set, but hoepfully Daniela can relax now...

This is not easy at all for Daniela, she just got broken 6-4 4-4

Daniela wins 64 64 in 1hr 48min
Two toughly fought sets. I get the feeling that Daniela didn't play especially well, but she got the job done. Nice to serve it out to 15.

Next Dementieva, although I have a feeling Elena may withdraw, would that mean Daniela gets a bye into the 3rd round???

I had a bad feeling about this match for some reason. I guess I've just seen Daniela mess up too many "unloseable" matches in the past.

If Elena should withdraw,I think the protocol is for a Lucky Loser to take her place in the draw. BTW pleased to see Daniela playing in the doubles with Vesnina, who has looked pretty sharp at the net the few times i have watched her.

It's a decent win. It seems that Manasieva played well from what Daniela said about the match and the stats, so Daniela had a good match. She got the job done and had a decent challenge.

Dementieva will be a very tough opponent, but she's had a lot of tough matches in Paris, she'll have had the travelling and not too much time to acclimitise, so there's the possibility of a letdown while Daniela played well against her in Sydney so can have confidence and she'll be used to the conditions.

I quite like Vesnina, seems like a perky and upbeat sort.

Identified the match against Hantuchova Manasievovej very good. "Súperka played extremely well, vybehala incredible ball and viewers saw the excellent level of tennis. In important moments decided that I believed more. In Dubai is awfully fast surface flies that are ostošesť. Against Dementieva to be a very difficult match, but I will try her revenge defeat of Sydney. In Australia, I played against him a very good game, now I have to add something extra," she told Reuters Hantuchova, who is in Dubai to present the quarterly break even debli with Russia Elena Vesninovou. "After the tournament in Tokyo, where my longtime partner Ai Sugiyama deblová career ended, I was advised that doubles in the future not going to play regularly. In Dubai, I can not workout in the doubles debla wanted to try, so I can better adapt to the local surface and the playful. Finally, paradoxically turned out so that my singles match gave the opening day now."

Daniela Hantuchova is right about everything.

That will do, and in straight sets as well which I think is key because there have been too many times when Daniela has made it tough for herself but scraping through in three sets, she should be fresh now for Dementieva, should she decide to play (not sure why she might withdraw, but havent read all the posts) and hopefully she can give us a game.

Daniela's certainly right about the quick courts in Dubai. I remember when Roddick won here a couple of years ago-he was constantly serving over 140 m/ph.

Either this is the longest rally ever, there's a timeout or the scoreboard's frozen.

Daniela and Vesnina lost 6-3 6-2. They only won 36% of the points and their service stats are pretty bad. They got 73% first serves in but won only 37% and only 18% of second serve points. Daniela and Vesnina just weren't used to playing together so couldn't construct points that easily while the Bondarenko's would be a more cohesive unit.
Considering that this is Daniela's first doubles match on the tour since Ai retired in Tokyo and it's a scratch partnership while the Bondarenko's are former Slam champions, it was unlikely that she'd win but it's still disappointing. Oh well, at least Daniela got a bit of match practice in and hopefully she had some fun.

Daniela Hantuchova is right about everything.

I doubt Lena V even wanted to look at a tennis racket after the choke she pulled against Bepa.
