After today's loss, it's even difficult to look forward to or speculate about another tournament.

Petrova hasn't had a great year, but I wish Ai had an easier first round opponent (like Daniela  ).

We'll see who the qualifier is but it is a match Daniela should win. She beat A. Radwanska and Makarova the last time she played them and she's got a fairly decent record against Kuznetsova. Who knows, maybe Daniela will respond better to being an underdog.

But after Seoul, I think we have to go by the mantra of one match at a time.

Daniela Hantuchova is right about everything.

Not a bad draw. But you can never know what Daniela is doing.
Often she shows better results with tough draws.

Even with the luck that she had drawing a Quali in 1st round i don't think that it's going to be easy.
Luckly Oudin lost to Craybas but still there are players like Pavlyuchenkova, Glatch, Mirza ...
She really needs to compose herself .. At least her time schedule is now more "normal" compared to the rest of the players

Daniela's playing Jill Craybas in the first round. She's someone I'd take as an opponent as Daniela's played Craybas four time and won them all. Craybas did beat Oudin in qualifying so she's got to be respected as an opponent. Whether that was due to Oudin having a letdown after the US Open, Craybas playing well or a combination of the two it's still a good win, so Daniela will have to play well.

Doubles draw:
Picture 5.png

Daniela and Ai are third match on center court against King & Zheng. Play starts at 10:30 am.

It's going to be Ai's last tournament so here's hoping it's a good one, especially in doubles.

I have a feeling this match against Craybass is going to be yet another totally unnecesarry 2.5 hour long 3-setter, which she will eventually win, after wasting plenty of chances to close it out after 80 minutes in the 2nd set.

Well, Daniela is nothing if not resilient. She has a good chance of getting into the 3rd round if she plays well.

Daniela and Ai are 3-3 in doubles, with 4 breaks of serve already.

First set to Hantuyama 6-4 on Daniela's ace.

Second set to King/Zheng 6-3. Ai's doubles career comes down to a super tiebreak. :?

Daniela serving first: 1-0, 2-0, 2-1, 2-2, 2-3, 3-3, 4-3, 5-3, 6-3, 6-4, 6-5, 6-6, 6-7 ( :? ), 7-7, 8-7, 9-7, 9-8, 10-8! :D

Ai lost all four points on her serve in the tiebreak, so Daniela bailed her out.

Things haven't started well for Ai. She lost the first set to Petrova 6-0, winning only 9 points. :(
