That was a great fight. After loosing the second set, Daniela dug deeb and closed the match in three. I don't know whats going on with her, but these 3-setters are going to be her new passion.

Another great result. I think Daniela has also chances against Zvonareva, but hopefully a match without "sleeping time". ;)

Well at *3-4 down in the final set I wasn't sure whether Daniela was going to be able to win this one, but she won three games in a row to take the final set 6-4, and set up a third round meeting with Vera Zvonareva. Vera narrowly beat Kleybanova to reach the R16 so there is some hope for Daniela. Further, Vera hasn't yet found her best form since returning to the tour so perhaps Daniela has her best shot at beating a player she has always struggled against.

BTW another quite easy win for Clijsters against Schnyder 6:2 7:5 :P

Don't know what to think about that result. But if Clijsters gets deep into that tournament, that would underline the current level on WTA. :?

same thoughts, especially about zvonareva, great chance for quarters
daniela held at 3-4 comfortable and served out the quite comfortable, good sign

I should have known that this would have happened. All the familiar Daniela traits were there: makes a total hash of serving out the first set, only to break with consummate ease to secure it. Then goes into headcase mode and gets suitably punished for it in the second. Finally, when all looks bleak she reels off 3 straight games and ends up with the victory. An absolute repeat of what happened in Linz 2 years ago.

The bottom line is I'm very proud of our girl. Bepa next-give her hell Danka!

looks like it was hard work again.. That was her fifth 3-set-win in a row!
I don't know whether this is a good or a bad sign, but at least another parellel to 2007: Before her win in Indian Wells she won most of her matches in three sets (as I remember).

Alona won 15 games against Dani's 14...wel atleast she won...which means our Dani is really working hard...

It's another battling win by Daniela and like Benji said, this match was a repeat of the match in Linz in 2007 with Daniela getting a good lead in the first set before being pegged back but eventually winning, Daniela stalls in the second set and A. Bondarenko wins it easily with the third set being a tense struggle before Daniela eventually pulls away and clinches it. In the next round Daniela faced someone that had always thrashed her in Vaidisova but Daniela won, so lets hope she keeps the Linz parallels going against Zvonareva. Zvonareva's recent form hasn't been great so why not?

"I very much look forward, I am ending this difficult struggle coped. Rather it is now in my legs. We played a long and terrible heat and humidity. The more you appreciate this victory. Still waiting doubles me. I hope, therefore, that to get sweep Thursday power. In the third against sete alone to truly be a full battle, decided for a few balls. In my favor, finally, about zavážilo in particular that I have maintained a larger room in the important moments, "said Daniela Hantuchova.

It's not that surprising that Clijsters has been winning on her comeback as she was out for nine months before she came back to win Indian Wells and Miami in 2005 and she'd been playing exhibitions and WTT to prepare plus she's got a great combination of talent, power and athleticism.

Daniela Hantuchova is right about everything.

Well i left after the first set because i had to get some sleep. It was 4am in Australia. But i guess it's good to see Daniela get a tight win. At the same time though it's disappointing to see her unable to keep any type of momentum. Not only was the second set a pretty poor effort considering she won the first, but she had chances to win the first set a lot easier. I guess at the end of the day wins like this can only do her confidence if she can manage to forget about the fact that she could have made things a great deal easier for herself. Onto to the next round...

Hopefully Daniela will approach this match a lot more relaxed. She started well against Alona so hopefully she can do the same against Vera, given the tough playing conditions Dani has mentioned after both of her games. I'm actually half expecting a win. Hopefully Daniela can really set herself up for a good run at the US Open. She has heaps of points which she can capitalise on there, so it could do her ranking a world of good. Maybe solidly inside the top 20 by the end of the season.
