I read via twitter that Daniela at 2-3 down in the 3rd set was almost in tears and she requested her coach. I really thnk she gave EVERYTHING in this match.

I'm surely she is emotionally and physically exhausted...

Big win for Daniela, she confirmed her tiebreak queen status. Pennetta is beatable too, much better match up for Daniela.

I read via twitter that Daniela at 2-3 down in the 3rd set was almost in tears and she requested her coach. I really thnk she gave EVERYTHING in this match.I would be interested to read more about that. From following the scoreboard,it seems she was up a break early in the 3rd set and got broken back. The conditions there look very oppressive(just watching a bit of the Sveta-Kim match, and Kim seems out on her feet!) so I'm not surprised Daniela was feeling a bit desperate. I don't even want to think about how tired Daniela must be right now,and I'm not expecting anything from her tomorrow, even though,as martin says,Flavia is a much more suitable opponent than Venus would have been.

Of course normally Flavia would be a beatable opponent, but at the moment she is in a really great form.
But the problem I'm thinking of at the moment is the physical aspect. Afte 3 straight matches over 3 sets in such a heat and doubles also, Daniela must be totally empty I'm afraid.
But nevertheless maybe a quick straight sets win in quarters could be possible. ;)

:wav: :wav: :wav: :wav: Absolutely superb win by Daniela, I'm so happy for her. If you're not proud of being a Daniela fan after this, then I just don't know. Daniela dug deep and called upon everything she had: her skill, her talent, her desire, her nerve, her fighting spirit, her experience and her fitness and she came through with a magnificent win. What a woman! This is her best win for a long, long time and will give her so much confidence. This is great :D :D

Daniela's last two matches have been a repeat of Linz 07. The Bondarenko match was pretty much the same as Linz and now she beats a nemesis that had thrashed her in all their previous meetings in a third set tiebreak.
Tomorrow will be tough as Pennetta's in very good form and she'll be fresher than Daniela who must be shattered after this match, but Daniela's tough, durable and determined so she'll be up for it.

Daniela Hantuchova is right about everything.

Wow! :D I was exhausted just following the scoreboard (at work, keep that secret); imagine how she feels after playing three hours of tennis in scorching heat after doing the same thing for two days in a row. This is a huge testament to her spirit, competitiveness and determination. Really, there's nothing more than say other than more glowing positives (and that would be the case even if she lost the tiebreaker).

P.S.: Bammer just upset Serena, so Daniela has gone farther than both Williams sisters in this tournament. Other than AO08, I cannot think of another time when that happened.

P.P.S: After all the fear of her drawing Clijsters in round one of her comeback bid, wouldn't it be something to see them play in the semifinals?

Pennetta will be so pysched for her match tomo against Daniela for if Pennetta wins she will be the 1st Italian to reach the top 10.

I hope Daniela can deny Pennetta this, as I'm sure Pennetta will reach top 10 in a few weeks time.

Daniela pulled out of doubles with Ai.

She plays Pennetta tomorrow, third match of the day, at around 16:30 local time.

I CAN'T BELIEVE I HAD TO GO TO BED! ARGH!

But oh well. I guess i just saved myself a heart attack. This is such a fantastic win! People have been saying this throughout this thread, but i'll repeat it: this is such a repeat of Linz 07! It's so fantastic to see Daniela digging deep and taking out matches like this. Especially against an opponent who she has played notoriously bad against. This would have to give her a world of confidence.

The draw has really opened up too! There's a real chance for Daniela to progress even further into this tournament and it's thoroughly deserved considering how much she has to fight and draw on all her mental and physical strength to get through these matches. I'm entirely satisfied with how everything has turned out so far in this tournament so everything else is just a bonus. Daniela has put herself in a great position for the remainder of the season now too. Ah! So many positives to be taken.

While i would say Flavia is the favourite in their upcoming match i'm still hopeful for Daniela edging out a win. She should enter the next match full of confidence and free of pressure - things can't get much better than that!

Go Daniela!

I feel really bad for Sugiyama that Daniela couldn't play doubles. But that's due to the stupid schedulers making Danka do double duty two days in a row which isn't necessary as the doubles tourney was only a 28 player field!

Does anyone have an interview from Danka on her win over Vera? She's been giving interviews to Slovak press all week.

Wow! This is a super shock for me!
I checked the order of play yesterday and I was in a bad feeling.
But hey! Daniela manage to won it.

She definitely a three setter player currently. Who cares? A win is still a win!
