Hard luck,Daniela. No fun playing Serena when you're feeling under the weather.

I'm very proud you made it to the 4th round with your illness.

Like everyone else, I'm sorry for Daniela. She was in a no-win situation, going against a top player in top form while being far less than 100% herself. Serena and Venus destroyed Yan and Zheng, who are a good team, 6-0 and 6-0 in doubles, so it was definitely the wrong day to play a Williams sister.

Anyway, there are ample reasons for optimism going forward as others have said. California, here we come!

Yes, and Venus trounced Ana Ivanovic 6-1 in the first set of their match before the Serb injured her groin when serving an ace. I can't see anything other than a Venus-Serena singles final, and a spot in the doubles final for both of them.

After Wimbledon Daniela will have rest for 3 weeks. Next tournament is likely Los Angeles or Stanford, she said to slovak media. But she will consult it with her coach.

So after yesterdays match Serena - Azarenka, everybody knows that it wasn't Daniela playing that bad, but much more Serena playing unbelievable.

Just a short review:
Daniela clearly wasn't 100% and in a quite good form - result 4 games against Williams including 1 break.
Azarenka is totally 100% and in a really good form at the moment - result 5 games against Williams including 1 break.

So I think Daniela summarized the match in her interview quite good. Serena is in an unbelieveable form at the moment. She plays with so much power, making only few errors and has a really great footwork.

IMO nobody can stop her this year in Wimbledon, also Venus won't be able to.

No thoughts on Dementieva - Serena match? That was some serious tennis out there. If only Dementieva wasn't so useless inside the baseline. :( She missed some good chances to break Serena when she was closer to the net.

All I can say is that, knowing how eratic Serena can be at the net, it was very brave of her to approach the net when match-point down, but she was successfull (more will than anything else I think), and deserved to go on and win the match.
Today's final was not the best quality throughout since Venus went off the boil from 2-2 in the second set, but it was certainly better than alot of other women's Grand Slam finals of late. I just hope that Serena and Venus can do well on the American hardcourts and stay injury free in order to move to the top of the rankings and de-throne Safina.

I was gutted for Elena... She had her chances, and while she didnt step up in a couple of key moments, she also was a bit unlucky. Amazing match.
The final was not the best, Venus was totally out, dunno what happened to her. Maybe coming unchallenged to the final didnt favor her. Serena's serve was a destructive force during the whole tournament.

At least daniela lost to the champion :P
