Good for Daniela. Straight set win against a solid player and her first top-40 win of the season. Had she lost ugly here, this would have another failure of a tournament given how unimpressive she was in round one. Now she's helped her ranking a bit and is really playing with house money going against a top-15 player in Wozniacki on her least favorite surface.

Got a little tense at the end but Daniela got the job done. She regrouped after the disappointment of being broken when serving for the match and having a mp and broke Mattek-Sands and then served it out. This is a good win. It seems like Tuesday's near-death experience has given Daniela a new lease of life because this is a good win and it seems a good performance. You can feel optimistic about things, Daniela's getting wins and she can look forward to getting more wins and points and going back up the rankings. Great win, Daniela. Good job.

Edit: Boca Juniors 1-0 Guarani in the Copa Libertadores on veetle. 2-0 now.

Wozniaki defeated an in-form Stosur in the 1st round by 6-3 , 6-7 , 6-1 and in the 2nd round she defeated Razzano 6-3 , 7-5 .
I really don't know what to except but this is already a nice result from Daniela , this will gave her + 70 points and she is #40 at the moment

This is the best I've felt after a Daniela match for a long, long time, this really does feel good. Although there was a wee wobble near the end, overall this seems like a very solid performance against a decent opponent who would have had the crowd on her side. Daniela service stats are pretty good and her second serve, which has been her achilles heel, held up pretty well.

Wozniacki will be a step up in class and she'll be a tough opponent but Daniela has nothing to lose and it's a chance to test herself against a top player.

I am so happy for Daniela and this tournament seems like it's setting her up for a nice clay season. It should give her some more confidence and she can take a lot from this.

3. Vesnina vs. Cibulkova
4. Chuang/Mirza vs. Mattek-Sands/Petrova

Wow! I'm so pleased and surprised to see the result. It's interesting that Daniela finally starts producing some good form when everyone thought she'd start playing worse (start of the clay season). I think we all have to remember that it's been ages since Daniela has played on clay. I would been satisfied with one win, but to get a second (and to have improved a lot in her second match) and to be in her first quarter final of the season, is just great! Maybe things are finally on the improve for Daniela.

I've gotta manage to figure out when her games are, because i stuffed up the time and missed out on her match -_-

I can't imagine a victory against Woz, but i'll be happy if it at least appears that she's competitive. The last couple of times she's faced any sort of half decent player the score-line has been pretty skewed, in their favour! Here's to hoping she can produce some good form! Maybe she'll reach another clay court semi final!

good win, Danka. I really didn't think she could do it. So happy for her right now. Caro will be tough. She gets so many balls back, but she has no real weapon. And Caro doesn't like clay either, and has lost in the QF in almost all tournaments this year. Vamos Danka

Well isnt that a turn up for the books. When I checked the result this morning I went on the WTA website with my usual pessimism and for a change its been proved wrong. Very well done Daniela, hope she can put in another good showing against an even tougher oppo tonight

What's going on with Dominika? She was a double break up against Vesnina in the third set, now it's 3-3.

Edit: 4-3 Vesnina. 5-3.

Vesnina wins 6-3.

As long as there's one Slovak in the semi-final.
