Razzano leads Safina 6-4 2-0. Could it be another surprising result
on Daniela’s benefit like Morita did yesterday ?

I was just about to make the same post. Hopefully Daniela plays well regardless of the result of this match.

Yes its very good news for Daniela. If Razzano goes through then Daniela has a reasonable chance of getting through to the quarter-finals. The problem is Vera Zvonareva is in cruise control (won in Pattaya City and has just beaten wildcard Dushevina 6-0 6-3), so I can't at the moment see Daniela getting past this stage (but 200 points from a quarter-final finish would be very nice indeed).

I can't for the life of me understand how Vera has shot back up the rankings. She was always a solid enough player, but i just really don't see her as top ten material.

EDIT: Razzano now serving for the match at 5-2 in the second T_T
EDIT1: Razzano has won. Such a massive chance for Daniela now to get some much needed points.

But in my opinion razzano plays very good, she was very aggressive and hits a lot of winners. So if Dani would win today if will be difficult against Razzano, if she plays like today. But we will see

I totally agree. I see her as a top-fifteen player for sure, maybe even as high as 9 or 10, but I don't like the fact that she is now a top-five player and has the same career high ranking as Daniela.

I just remember some statistic about her performance against top 10 players and it was really poor. For someone who's firmly in the top 10, to be seemingly outclassed by people just below her in the rankings it just doesn't sit right with me. It's like she's managed to fluke her way in there or something, with easy enough runs in tournaments and the like. Although, i guess i can't criticise easy tournament runs with the luck Daniela (and albeit hasn't been capitalising on) has been getting of late.

EDIT: Not a good start for Dani, broken in the opening game.

I hope she can win today. I think its going to be a tough match. She has a good opportunity now that Safina has gone out, so lets hope she takes it.
I think this will be a three-setter at best...
