Im so glad this nerve racking tie went to daniela! She gave her all and upped her level of play. Made some really good shots (the passing facing set point was lovely) and her serve was more consistent. Come on danka!!! :)

Jesus Christ that was painful to watch!

well many UEs yes, but definitely exciting, and she fights. I think it is good to watch her with this spirit.

I was almost closing my eyes waiting for danka to make an UE... glad she didnt make that many. I think her shots were much better in the tie. Hope she brings this to the 2nd and capitalizes on it.

Amen! that says it all.

from time to time the set was epic, but full of those silly UEs.. weird.

But great fighting from Danka and thanks to all the gifts from Dellacqua.

Good to see Daniela fighting to a win, especially 0-40 down in the final game on her own serve. Hopefully she can improve in her next match as she will need to improve a lot if she is to beat Cornet in a potential 3rd round match up

Well she won. Many UE... but she did better on the 2nd. We saw glimpses of her true form here and there (some really nice strokes and a couple of good winners) but still too erratic. Hope she brings a more solid game to the 2R... Glad you won danka! ;)

A good match to come through, especially since Dellacqua had so many set point chances in the opening set.
Up next for Daniela is Mathilde Johansson; a very winnable match.

According to Portuguese Eurosport , Dellacqua made a good game and with a different player she would be able to win .
For them , Daniela is more mature and produced shots that proved that .. They also said that Danka is one player to pay attention in the 2009 AO

One or two tense moments for Daniela but it was never in any doubt.

I've got to say that Daniela played an incredible passing shot when Dellacqua was 11-10 in the tie-break, that was a great shot when she really needed it and she'd had bad luck with net cords at 2-1 and on her previous set point.

Daniela did very well to come back and break Dellacqua in the first game of the second set and while she could have gotten a double break, she generally controlled the second set and didn't the frustration and tension in the last two games get to her and she showed control and resolve to get the win. Even overcame Alison Lang making one or two idiosyncratic decisions - how is the first point of the last game not replayed?

It's a good win against a tricky opponent and it gives Daniela a lot to build on for the rest of the tournament and the year.
