somebody on cp has been to the Aus Open this weekend and seen Daniela practice. To make a long story short, apparently Angel is with her but also that new guy it was soo funny i was standing next to her and Angel (I saw him haha) talking and kissing ppl on the cheek that she knew and said "happy new year" to one of 'em, it was so cute to hear her laugh I think that is Portas he was talking about. They showed him about 6 times on the Sydney coverage, must be very involved. I think this is the same person who also took EDIT: nevermind I think it was Angel afterall but I don't know that they were working together |

Alize Cornet FRA (15) vs. Mariya Koryttseva UKR - 6-3 , 6-4 next up for Cornet is Andrea Petkovic from Germany , ranked 212 at the moment 13 of 19 of the games were service breaks. It would be their third time meeting at the AO, Daniela won both previous meetings, Cornet was playing qualifiers in 2007 though. She's beat a number of players in 2008 (including Daniela) but no huge wins. Not very aggressive. Maybe a menace to Vaidasova. Doesn't look like she plays strategically. Players who change the game from one opponent to the next are annoying. Safina seems to me to be the biggest threat. She has a steam head built up. Anything could happen though at this point though, I guess. 5 minutes till Hantuchova v. Dellaqua. |
